Locke To Head Harlequin Club

John Locke of Theta Chi was elected president of the Harlequin Club with Bill Harton of Pi Kappa Alpha named secretary. Bid eligibility will be extended next week. The club aims to foster social ties between Richmond and Westhampton Colleges and invites only Westhampton girls to attend. A fall dance is planned for November 15 at a fraternity house. A new president was elected after the president-elect failed to return to college.

Franks to Speak on Archaeology at Convocation

The Reverend Vincent C. Franks, rector of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, will speak on archaeology at Convocation today in Cannon Memorial Chapel. Franks has excavated in Egypt and the Holy Land and traveled in Europe and Asia. He is Canadian by birth and participated in the Dardanelles campaign of World War I.

Alpha Sigma Sigma Elects Four New Members

The Alpha Sigma Sigma fraternity announces the election of four new members. Three Richmond College students and one honorary affiliate were chosen for their qualifications. Members include Afie Jones Tivis Wicker Bill Lurber and Buddy Mayo.

Contests Announced for Messenger Stories

Dr Charles H Wheeler chair of the Board of Publications announced two Messenger story contests with ten dollar prizes. One for a non fiction article due December 2 and one for fiction due March 1. Winners chosen by Richmond and Westhampton College English reps and the Editor in Chief. The aim is to spur student writing for the school magazine and improve material.

University Players to stage two one act plays

Production set for November 15 and 16 features Yeats Irish drama Land of Heart's Desire with Bridget Bruin Maire Bruin and the child cast. The Devil and Daniel Webster stars Salvatore Casale as Daniel Webster and George Sadler as Jabez Stone with Marguerite Shell as Stone's wife and Alex Sternberg as Mr Scratch.

Westhampton Rats Initiation Night Slated For Tonight

Westhampton sophomores under Sweetie Emerson plan rat night in the Student Government room. Freshmen must identify seniors and perform a skit to win rat cards. Nine short skits by the Class of 1944, with group chairs listed, are planned for entertainment.

Council Chooses Caylor Locke to Antwerp Interfraternity Visit

Professor W F Caylee and John Locke were chosen to represent the Interfraternity Council at the National Interfraternity Conference in New York City on November 20. Richmond delegation of 25 met at Phi Gamma Delta for dinner and business. Dr Herman P Thomas said the dinner meeting was very successful and that more such gatherings will be held. Officers reelected include Dr Thomas as president, Dr R C McDanel as vice president, and Professor Caylor as secretary treasurer.

Web Theme Sets Snapshot of Campus Life for 1941 Yearbook

Editor Ed Massie announced the 1941 Web yearbook will center on campus life with many photo proofs needed. Students are urged to submit daily classroom and activity snapshots, with Merin-Baliban and Westhampton reps collecting proofs, and Saturday the final deadline at both colleges.
