University of Richmond announces commencement week starting Saturday June 6 and ending Tuesday June 9. Dr J W Bailey chairs committees overseeing decorations diplomas prizes music program vesper and recreation events. Details include Sophomore Senior Garden Party at Westhampton College and a rendition of As You Like It by University Players.

Westhampton Athletic Banquet Promises Nobly

Westhampton sponsors an inaugural athletic banquet in the dining room at 6 30 tonight. The event will award cups to the general athletic champions and blue ties for sportsmanship. Speeches and toasts follow dinner with all students invited to attend.

Chemistry Club Elects Richmond Officers for 1931 42

The Chemistry Club of the University of Richmond held its final meeting of the year in the Chemistry Lecture Room on Thursday May 14 1931 at 430 PM The officers elected last week for 1931 42 were Herbert Ruffin president Henry Vraman vice president and Abe M Jackson secretary treasurer

University of Richmond Web annual distribution announced

The editor of The Web states the University of Richmond annual will be ready for distribution Monday between 11:00 PM and 12:30 AM in the Web Room, Chemistry Building basement. He predicts the volume will be very attractive and notes eligibility based on paid fees and memberships.

Richmond College R. G. Ends Season With Club Meeting

Inter national Relations Club met on May 13 to discuss Russia and Snowden's Budget. Alumni Paul Peterson spoke on Russia with source material and personal conferences. L. E. McKinney analyzed the English financier's budget from pro and con angles. Rufus Darden presided at the final meeting of the year.

College Government Council Dinner at Gypsy Tavern

The Westhampton College Government Council entertained old and new members at a May 14 dinner at the Gypsy Tavern. Despite rainy weather the event was a success with post dinner plans at the Byrd Theatre. Attending were Dean Keller Dr Bailey Miss Lutz Miss Woodfin Miss Harris Mrs Grove and Miss Mary Peple president of the Alumnae Association. Student members listed include Miss Hicks Fugate Royal Le Grande Buxton Goldston Campbell Rawlings Hardaway Alexander Bandy Capitaine.

University of Richmond Acquires Virginia Portraiture Volume

Miss Throckmorton reports the University of Richmond has added a valuable copy of Virginia Historical Portraiture to the Marion Garnett Ryland Collection. The book reproduces all portraits from the Virginia House collection and includes biographical sketches of subjects and artists, noted as exceptionally beautiful.

Westhampton seniors start examinations on Saturday May 23 with underclass exams from May 27 to June 5. Senior tests on June 3 4 5 are moved to May 23 25 26 respectively. P and H 12 exams are May 28 at 2 PM and Math 1-2 on June 1 at 9 AM. Examinations out of order require office permission.

Prep School Athletes Entertained by University Alumni

About 150 prep and high school athletes attended a Saturday banquet hosted by the Alumni Association with talks by Coach Pitt, Coach Dobson, President Boatwright, and Dr. Mitchell. The Richmond Collegians provided music at the banquet and again for a Milhiser Gymnasium dance, which drew about 300 attendees including visiting athletes.

Vesper Choir to Lead Sunday Vesper Service in Chapel

The Vesper Choir will conduct the regular Sunday night Vesper Service at Cannon Memorial Chapel. It will feature pieces by Tchaikovsky, P Ivanoff, Hopkins, N A Zingarelli, Henry Gadsby, and F Flaxington Harker plus a procession hymn. All University students are urged to attend and invite friends. There will be no service on May 31 due to the fifth Sunday.

Finals Dance for University of Richmond Set by Interfrat Council

The Interfraternity Council at the University of Richmond sponsors a finals dance in Roger Millhiser Gymnasium on Friday June 5 from 9 to 1 with Roy Ingraham's twelve piece orchestra. Tickets cost 2.50. The event aims to establish a campus finals dance tradition and follows the orchestra’s recent Pacific Coast tour. The group has performed at VMI and VPI proms and will play at other Virginia colleges after leaving Richmond.

At a May 15 banquet in the college refectory Pi Delta Epsilon elected Edward C. Nininger president Goodwyn Welsh vice president and Russel Urquhart secretary treasurer for 1931 32 New members initiated include Goodwyn Welsh Edward Peple Luther Wells George Schools and Joseph Holland Returning members are Nininger Urquhart and Craft.

Last Monday afternoon the Inter national Relations Club met at 2 P M in the drawing room. The program on Russia presented three typical trials showing punishments for common offenses, though not authentic.
