Religious Groups Name New Heads
Forty one students were elected this spring to offices in six of Richmond College's eight religious organizations. The Religious Activities Council announced the officers across YMCA YWCA Canterbury Club Baptist Student Union Newman Club Ministerial Association and RAC slate. Lawson Smith led YMCA as president with Ken Mace and Ray Ashworth as other officers. Peggy Armstrong heads the YWCA with Jean Rudelle and Mary Lou Watson as officers. Canterbury Club names Ken Gimbert president Shirley Evans vice president Jenny McAden secretary-treasurer Bill Wandall RAC representative. Rodney Myers of Hopewell High School captured the top $1,000 scholarship in the UR WRVA Radio Scholarship Quiz, besting Kenneth Burke Jr and Clyde Lee Fields after a tied final at Hopewell High School Auditorium. Myers will attend Richmond College to study science.

Willey Named IFC Chairman With Fraternity Brochure Plan
Ed Willey, B S Student Government vice president and former state House member, will chair the Interfraternity Council next year. Charlie Knott is vice president, Alton Owens to the House, and Dr. Fred Gaylor reelected secretary. The council plans a brochure reviewing twelve national fraternities to boost campus membership from the current one in four.

Shirley Ward, past president of College Government at Westhampton, was awarded $100 by the Richmond Altrusa Club at Moving Up Chapel. Miss Grace Watt presented the prize citing Ward’s leadership, scholarship, and citizenship including World Student Service Fund work and international affairs involvement. She is consistently on the Dean's List.

Mortar Board Cup Awarded to Two Classes at Westhampton
The 1954 and 1955 classes shared the Mortar Board cup for unselfish work during the 53 54 session. Beverly French presented the award at Moving Up Chapel. Nancy Graham and Betty Leigh Stembridge accepted for their classes, with juniors redecorating the mailroom and supporting the World Student Service Fund, and seniors boosting morale with tower room sings and pep rallies.
