Dorsey and Stoemer to headline final Richmond dances
One hundred forty five Richmond College seniors and 79 Westhampton College students will graduate June 7, the largest class in Richmond College history, with Morris Sayre delivering the commencement address. Sayre, a Richmond College alumnus and head of the National Association of Manufacturers, will receive an honorary Bachelor of Science. Dean Pinchbeck praises the class of 1948 as academically strong and notes over half plan graduate or professional study while others seek good jobs.

West Hampton College Juniors Win Mortar Board Cup
The Junior Class at West Hampton College received the Mortar Board cup for the third time during the moving up day ceremonies in Cannon Memorial Chapel. Ida Banes accepted the trophy from Mortar Board president Betty Hardin for the class’s leadership, spirit, and service. Virginia Herndon then awarded West Hampton seals to seniors Betty Hickerson and Betty Stansbury, juniors Ann Bing, Jane Dens, and Virginia Grabeel for sportsmanship, leadership, and school spirit.

Officials pledged full cooperation and noted ongoing talks to address remaining items such as daily facility inspections by a faculty member.
