Taming Will Be Presented by Local Players at Commencement

The University of Richmond Players will present The Taming of the Shrew on June 4 at 8 30 p m on the Richmond College campus. The annual commencement custom to feature Shakespeare is continued as the final cast is set and daily rehearsals proceed under director Miss Brown.

Richmond College elects officers for next session

The Senior, Junior and Sophomore Classes at Richmond College held special meetings last Tuesday to elect class officers. Kes in the Senior Class include John Kincheloe as president and Guy D. Mattox as senator, with other posts filled by James H. Gordon, Bill Norman, Bill Hundley, R. C. Dorsey, and Plu Wilkinson. Junior Class officers feature Bill Gaines as president and Loftus Walton as vice president, with Lee Gaskins, R. S. Martin, Herman B. Dixon, G. W. Taylor, and Clayton Pitts in support roles.

Westhampton Juniors Entertain Freshmen at Lake Breakfast

Westhampton College junior class hosted their freshman sisters at a lakeside breakfast in honor of the freshmen birthday. A large bonfire crackled as bacon roasted and hot coffee brewed. The event featured singing and a gymnastics demonstration by Misé Louie Eubank guided by Miss Keller's school.

Senior invitation money deadline urged by class leaders

Seven Men Receive Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Election

Governor Byrd named among seven men chosen for Omicron Delta Kappa honors at Richmond College Auditorium. Notables include Harry Flood Byrd and five student members. Dean W. L. Prince spoke on the organization’s ideals and selection process at the Friday morning ceremony.

Stubbs Elected President of Mu Sigs Society

Perry R. Stubbs was elected president of the Mu Sigma Rho Literary Society for the next term at the final meeting of the year held last Monday. J. E. Dodd named vice president while M. H. Pulley and W. H. Bennett Jr. were chosen secretary and treasurer. The annual debating contest also occurred with Bennett Jr. winning best debater for the negative pro prohibition argument.

International Relations Club Meeting May 10 Recap

The International Relations Club held its May 10 meeting with Albert Coscilaro presiding. Dr R C McDanel, faculty advisor, spoke on conditions in China before the open discussion. The club aims to promote foreign relations interest and reduce national prejudices among American university students.

University of Richmond Announces 95th Commencement Week

The University of Richmond will hold its ninety fifth commencement from June 4 to June 7. Howard R. Bayne, M A 72 LL B 78, will give the commencement address on Tuesday morning June 7 at 11 oclock. Degrees and honors will be conferred and an address by President Boatwright will close the academic year.

Walton Givens Lead Honor Roll for April

L. H. Walton and C. W. Givens top the April Honor Roll with five A grades each, among twenty nine men named. The Dean's office notes higher requirements recently raised, with the list listing all honorees.

Collegian Suspends Publication for Summer Break

The Richmond Collegian ends its current scholastic year, suspending publication until next September. After thirty issues produced, the staff feels remorse as they place the covers on the Underwoods and sound the last copy call of the season.

Harlequin Club Dance Honors New Members at Sauer's Garden

The Harlequin Club holds a formal year end dance at Sauer's Japanese Garden from 8 PM to 11:30 PM with Westhampton College ladies and Richmond College men. Ten new members are publicly recognized: T A Savage, G W Taylor, H C Peterson, D V Buchanan, J C Robinson, H G Noffsinger, D C Woodfin, D G Pierpont, A W Harrison, Guy D Mattox. Bus transport from Westhampton at 8 PM. The event likely closes the year amid exams.

Philologians Elect W. Lee Smith President

W Lee Smith was elected president for the first term of next session of the Philologian Literary Society at a meeting held last Monday night. The race for the presidency was close with Smith winning by a narrow margin and several other offices hotly contested. The full slate includes Vice President W S Norman Secretary M L Leary Treasurer W H Corbitt Chaplain H M Edwards and a literary post.

Margaret Willis Heads New Board of Athletics

At a May meeting of the Westhampton Athletic Association the old board transferred duties to the new board. Retiring president Maude Everhardt spoke and handed her office to Margaret Willis, who then became president and received guidance on duties from each former member.

Westhampton College Glee Club Tonight in Red Cross Building

Westhampton College presents its second concert of the year in the Red Cross building at 8 15 tonight directed by Mrs F F Harker. The program includes six chorus numbers and solos and duets with violin interludes featuring the ensemble and individual performers.
