Six Westhampton seniors win fellowships for study abroad 1962-63

Six Westhampton seniors receive graduate study fellowships for 1962 63. Nancy Carmack will attend Duke University on a Ford Foundation grant for a Master of Arts in teaching English and education. Diane Light earns a $2 000 fellowship at the University of Wisconsin in history. Gail Matthews pursues experimental psychology at the University of Kentucky with a National Defense Fellowship of 2 000 plus tuition. Barbara Sue Oglesby studies toward a master's in mathematics at the University of North Carolina. Janet Parrish receives a 2 000 assistantship for library science at the University of North Carolina. Mary Kay Williams, English major from Arlington, will study theology at New College Edinburgh University and plans World Council of Churches work after graduation.

Recital by Harrell and Cosby at University of Richmond

Betty Harrell and Ann Cosby present a piano recital Sunday at 4 pm in Keller Hall University of Richmond. The public is admitted free. Both are from Portsmouth and top Westhampton piano majors. Cosby plays Schumann Scenes of Childhood and Ravel Sonatine. Harrell performs Beethoven Sonata Op 14 No 1 and three Debussy preludes.

Final Recital Scheduled at University of Richmond

The University of Richmond will host a final season recital on May 22 at 8:15 p.m. in Keller Hall. Performers include Letty Lee Sloan soprano, Sue Ligon contralto, Betty Cheyney mezzo soprano, Dennis McEntire violin, Samantha Embrey clarinet, Barbara Gardner piano, and Mary K. Cross piano. UR Band Elects Officers At Annual Banquet

The University Band held its annual banquet at the Hot Shoppes on Grace Street. Officers elected for next year are Charles McKinney president Lee Hill vice president Steve Blood treasurer Wayne Paul and Sandra Shaw librarians and Ed Shrum and Al Millar property managers.
