Alpha Psi Omega Establishes Here at Richmond College

The national honorary dramatic fraternity Alpha Psi Omega will install its cast at Richmond College with a banquet next week. Charter members include R N Sibold M S Shockley R W Edwards H H Dudley Elmer Potter and others. Elections will be held annually as the group aims to elevate college dramatic standards.

University of Richmond German Club Final Dance at Richmond

The University of Richmond German Club schedules its final dance for Friday evening June 1 at the Richmond Winter Garden Hotel. The club holds five dances yearly including Thanksgiving Christmas Midwinter Easter and Finals. The last dance runs until 3:00 A M with an extra hour of dancing and a well known orchestra.

Richmond College Final Chapel to Be Held Monday

Dean Prince calls all students to the final chapel in Chapel Hall at 11:00 Monday morning. Mr Prince or Dr Boatwright will speak on the past year’s success and discuss future student types. The entering class for Fall will graduate in 1932, the Centennial year, with the 1928-29 freshman class expected to be the largest. Final exam and commencement announcements will be made at this service.

Much Ado About Nothing Chosen as Commencement Play

The University Players announce Much Ado About Nothing as the 1928 commencement play directed by Emily Brown. The open-air performance Saturday night June 2 at 8 30 will use the Administration Building patio as stage, continuing the annual Shakespeare tradition.

Tau Kappa Alpha Initiates Members on Monday

Initiation of Tau Kappa Alpha local chapter members will be held Monday evening May 28 on campus. Inductees include W. Lee Smith Ernest L. Honts and Dr Rolvix Harlan honorary. One student is a senior and the other a sophomore, both previously on the team that met Lynchburg College.

Pi Alpha Chooses Seven Members At Meeting

Seven Junior Class girls were elected to Pi Alpha at Westhampton College. Louise Black Elizabeth Chadler Ruth Cox Constance Foster Elizabeth Hale Helen Moon Thelma Pruden were announced May 9 in Chapel by Miss Keller. The honor requires unanimous student approval and advisory sanction. Pi Alpha embodies scholarship religious activity athletics art and school spirit.

Literary Societies Elect New Officers For 1928 29

Election of officers for the first part of the 1928 29 session was the main business at the final meetings of the Mu Sigma Rho and another literary society held last Monday evening in the Administration Building. Officers named include President E W Eanes Vice President W H Bennett Jr and Secretary B N Denham.

The Westhampton College Writer's Club held a May 9 meeting electing Betty Harrison Dorothy Gwaltney Corinne Morecock Nancy Reynolds and Eugenia Riddick as new members. A May 16 gathering featured readings by different writers and a social hour.

Math Dean Attends Southern Baptist Convention

Dr R E Gaines head of the Mathematics Department is absent from college this week to attend the Southern Baptist Convention sessions in Chattanooga Tennessee. He also serves as president of the Foreign Mission Board.

Mammoth Water Carnival Marks University of Richmond Commencement

The ninety sixth session closes with a mammoth Water Carnival on Westhampton Lake featuring three college students groups on Friday June 1 at two pm. A Garden Party follows at five pm in the Court of Westhampton College. Rev R B Jones will preach the Baccalaureate Sermon on Sunday June 3 at 11:15 am in Roger Millhiser Gym. Robert Lee Kelly will deliver the Commencement address on Tuesday June 5 at 11:00 am, with degree conferrals and honors. Rev John W Kincheloe will receive the Doctor of Divinity and Jacob Billikopf the Doctor of Laws.

Omicron Delta Kappa Local Chapter Banquet

The semi annual initiation banquet of the local circle of Omicron Delta Kappa will be held at Richmond College Cafeteria tomorrow at 6:00 PM. Speakers include Dean Prince national president Joseph W. Sadler retiring local president and several faculty members. Afterward the group will adjourn to the Millhiser Gym trophy room for a concluding gathering.

Nevitt Sanford Wins Oratorical Contest

Nevitt Sanford won the Oratorical Contest on the topic In Appreciation of Woodrow Wilson. The event was held Wednesday with W S Yorman taking second and other competitors including Norman Corbett Harrison Batkins. Sanford receives thirty five dollars first prize while Norris Norman gets fifteen dollars. The Harlequin Club announced new members Carroll Taylor Nottingham Stengel Wilbourne Neal Dickerson Phipps and an upcoming spring dance at the University Club with the College Orchestra playing from 8:30 to 12:00.

Webs Distribution Planned for 1928 Campus Annual

The 1928 Web is ready for packing and shipping with engraving printing and binding completed. It will be distributed from the Chemistry Building basement within a week, ahead of exams.
