Kemp Orchestra to Broadcast Live From Millhiser Gym

Hal Kemp and his orchestra will broadcast on WRVA via Columbia from Millhiser Gymnasium during Finals week. The show will originate June 7 with a 9 pm start and continue to 1 am, after a June 6 tea and night dance. Ticket sales remain limited for non-subscribers.

Honorary Debate Group Inducts Six Members

Tau Kappa Alpha the national honor ary forensics fraternity inducted six campus forensics leaders at the Trophy Room Millhisery Gymnasium. Inductees include Royal Brandis George Ross Harry James Jack Noffsing er Flavius Walker and John Jordan. Most had served on the Varsity Debating Team while James acted on the Forensic Council as secretary.

Collegian Wins ACP Honors for Excellent Rating

The Collegian earned a first class Excellent rating in the Associated Collegiate Press Critical Service Report with 716 of 1000 points. The Minnesota School of Journalism judged 446 college newspapers and named All-American Superior papers including The Akron Auchtelie The Daily Texan Echo Weekly and The Oregon Daily among others.

Ambitious Richmond College Seniors Plan Graduate Study

More graduates plan to pursue advanced study next year than ever before at Richmond College. Thirty seven seniors intend to continue in graduate programs at diverse institutions including the Medical College of Virginia and seven theological seminaries. Other students seek law, science, or general graduate work nationwide.

Interfraternity Council Elects Judicial Committee

Bray Bowling Wish Martin and Frank Cosby were elected to serve on the Interfraternity Council Judicial Committee at a May 10 meeting. The group enforces council rules and may fine or restrict fraternities for violations. Five amendments to rushing rules were passed and added to the constitution, including no rushing during Orientation Week meetings and limit of two social functions per fraternity during rushing.

Chemist's Freaks Prove Its Fun To Be Fooled

At the Chemistry Club Open House last week, crowds flocked to the exhibits billed as perpetual motion and a stell ball in milk. The feats were revealed as fakes with air pressure driving the machine and mercury enabling the floating ball. Fortunes in the booth were prearranged behind the scenes. The straight scientific displays still drew interest.

The university schedules the final address by Congressman A Willis Robertson Tuesday June 7 at 7 PM with degree conferrals including Doctor of Divinity for Rev Howard T Clark and Rev L M Ritter. Sunday June 5 offers a baccalaureate sermon by Rev A W Reagan. Events include senior supper lunch for alumni Geneva Society induction June 4, trustees meeting June 6, and evening programs and entertainments June 4 2 PM water pageant 4 PM varsity alumni baseball game.

Abeloff Elected Class Treasurer In May Runoff

Dexter Abeloff a Progressive candidate won the Junior Glass treasurer post in a May 10 runoff by four votes 68 to 64 over Bob Talley. The Independent Party secured eight of 15 offices reversing March Student Government results. Senate decision on absentee votes remains unresolved.
