Major Intercollegiate Meet and Richmond Field Day Planned

Tomorrow at 3 pm the largest regional intercollegiate track meet opens with about seventy five contestants from Richmond College Vo BP Roanoke College William and Mary Hampden Sydney and Randolph Macon. Monday May 15 is the annual Field Day with all events on the athletic field and medals prizes awarded to top all round athletes.

Hanford Returns From Chatham Visit As Saunders Leaves for Trial

Hanford arrived back in town Monday afternoon after a brief stay in Chatham Virginia. C. C. Saunders departed early in the week to attend a trial where he is summoned as a witness.

Spider track team excels at South Atlantic Championship Meet

The Spider track team of ten placed fifth at Charlottesville in the South Atlantic meet May 6 and 7, scoring 1249 points. Durham and Liggan each earned two thirds with four points apiece, while Johnson tied for second and third in pole vault for 219 points. Satterfield and Bahlke had one point each as Henke led a lineup including Wallace and Lignan in sprint events and hurdles.

Inter-Society Oratorical Contest Awarded to Philologians

The annual Inter-Society Oratorical Contest at the Philologian Society on May 1 ends with H. T. Clark winning over four others. The event drew a small audience and featured speeches by S. S. Bill and L. Stubbard of the Philologian Society, with Mu Sigma Rho participants also in the running.

Student Officers And Collegian Staff Elected

The Student Council chose officers for the next session at a regular meeting. M L Combs won the presidency 81 to 4 over Weston Bristow. Other posts were filled with unopposed candidates and new editor in chief H M Sutherland and business manager W W Miller were named.

Senior Class Celebrates Birthday at Westhampton

Monday morning at Westhampton the senior class recalled last May Day as halls buzzed with expectancy. The lavender and white baskets once again brightened doors as memories of past celebrations stirred younger students, a scene captured before a continuation noted on page 4.

Delayed Pageant Delivers Record Richmond Event

Rain halted day one but Saturday's pageant drew 6000 to 12000 visitors. Richmond College and Westhampton College led fourteen plays with twenty performances. Hamlet scene impressed audiences as crowds cheered the procession and Boy Scouts aided safely handling traffic.
