Sophomore pupils dressed in white and blue joined in a May Day at West Hampton. Activities included a flower bedecked throne, May Pole dances, and Mother Goose and Mother McDaniel performances. A lemonade stand and baskets of conkies followed, with seniors staying late. a secret about the party remains.
Horace White who left college to join the Signal Corps at Racketts Horror for training and war work writes a letter to the Columbus paper. He describes his location overlooking Lake Ontario and contrasts it with summer at Richmond. The piece includes his impressions and mentions companions.
At Venable Field Hampden Sidney the Spiders overwhelmed the Hampden-Sidney Tigers 11 runs to none. Richmond's Knight strong pitching and sharp hitting carried the game as Tigers' errors aided the onslaught with Alexander struggling on the mound.

The Philologian Tutanary Society defeated the opposition in a debate on amending the Virginia Constitution to include the initiative and referendum for state legislation. The affirmative team consisted of W. I., Tiller, Asherd, Cheatham. judges were Prof. D. W. Davidson, Dy. McDaniel, Revs Newberry and Hall.
