The university marks the decennial of Westhampton College and ten years on the current site with a multi day program June 8 to 11. Memorial tablets for Dr. Jeremiah Bell Jeter James Thomas Jr. and Sarah W. Brunet will be unveiled. Dr S C Mitchell to speak Tuesday with an alumni dinner to follow.

First Aid and Life Saving Institute At University of Richmond
Plans are complete for a seven day First Aid and Life Saving Institute at the University of Richmond from June 28 to July 4 under the American National Red Cross. The program trains directors and leaders in water safety with courses in life saving diving swimming first aid canoe handling and aquatic recreation. Classes begin at 9 am June 28 on Westhampton Lake with dormitory housing and cafeteria meals. Applicants must be 17 or older and able to swim. enrollment is limited and directed to the Washington Division.

Opening of Social Center Draws Large Crowd
More than 100 attendees gathered for the social center’s formal opening on Wednesday evening. Dr. F. W. Initial Glee Club Performance at Westhampton Tomorrow Night
Richmond College presents the Glee Club in its first full yearly program tomorrow at 8:30 in the Red Cross Building. The show blends vocal pieces with a comedy sketch by Ross Southward and Harold Snead, a piano solo by Herbert Ricker, and performances by stringed instrument and Glee Club Quartet. Proceeds aid the Westhampton College women’s building.

J Hillis Miller captured first place for the second consecutive year in the thirty fourth Virginia Intercollegiate Oratorical Association contest held at Salem High School Auditorium Salem Virginia under Roanoke College. Walter Merle Bixby died in a lake canoeing incident on April 22. Alva Bloxom, unable to swim well, was saved by Morris Davenport and Joe Cox while attempting to help. other students and faculty, including Dr I W Boatwright and Coach Frank M Dobson, attended memorial services. Burial took place in Baltimore.

University Team to Debate Mercer in Final Contest
The University of Richmond debates Mercer University in the chapel auditorium at 8 o clock on the final contest of the year on the resolution that the United States should join a league of nations. C H Robinson and A Stephen Stepanian will argue the negative, while Herbert Bradshaw and T Andrew Caraker represent the visitors. Last year Richmond defeated Mercer in Macon on the Allied War Debt issue.
