Girls To Welcome Spring With May Day Celebration

Jimmy Dorsey and Chuck Foster are booked for the Spring Finals with Dorsey to headline Friday and Foster on Saturday. Contract delays delayed signing, but Longacre confirms final arrangements soon. The Spring Finals run May 30 and 31 with concerts and dances.

Veterans fail to contact VA on future training plans

About 100 veterans have not reached the VA Office in the basement of the Biology Building to state their intentions regarding future training, prompting an urgent follow up.

Crump Announces New Richmond College Voting Rules

Richmond College student elections will use multiple voting sites under new rules announced by Student Government President Thad Crump. The changes, drafted by the Senate, take effect Tuesday as students head to polls to choose class officers. Crump also said several nominees were withdrawn or disqualified for failing to maintain a C average, including Aubrey Rosser and Dick Hensley for president and secretary of the Sophomore Class, Julius Fanney for Junior Class secretary, and others for various offices.

Polling Places Planned For Student Government Vote

Three polling sites are planned with one per class. Sealed ballot boxes will be used under Senate supervision per the SGA Constitution. An Honor Council member will assist at each location. Polls open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Fenlon Resigns as Spider Coach at Richmond

John Fenlon, head football coach of the Spider program since 1942, resigned to become Fredericksburg city recreation director and James Monroe High School head coach. He expressed regret at leaving UR and said he can better serve youth in Fredericksburg after a four year Navy service and a strong season with the Spiders.

Richmond College Students Lead Virginia College Congress

Thad Cramp of Richmond College was elected president of the Student Congress of Virginia Colleges and Universities at Hampden Sydney College. Pete Singleton of the Collegian was named president of the reorganized Virginia Intercollegiate Press Association. Charles Fellows of Virginia Tech became secretary treasurer of both bodies as meetings opened April 26.

Westhampton Delegates Attend Southern Intercollegiate Conference

Westhampton College sent retiring President Marion Huske and new President Anne Bowie Clark to the Southern Intercollegiate Association of Student Governments conference at Sophie Newcomb College Tulane University New Orleans April 17 19. Delegates discussed postwar college challenges and world participation while enjoying New Orleans social events and a banquet at Arnaud's Restaurant featuring author Harnett Kane.

Physics Club Attends American Physical Society Meeting

Officers and members of Sigma Pi Sigma accompanied by Drs. R. B. Loving and C. L. Albright will attend the American Physical Society convention in Washington on May 18. The Chi Chapter plans a May 16 banquet and will hear reports from delegates. The Richmond chapter has grown this year with 22 new initiates.

Pageant to Crown May Queen in Westhampton Celebration

Make-Believe Ball Opens May Day Festivities

The Sophomore Class hosts a May Day ball in Keller Hall on Saturday May 8 with Townsmen providing music from 9 p.m. to midnight. The event features a The Twelve Dancing Princesses theme with decorations and tickets priced 1.65 per couple or 1.00 for a stag.
