McDonald Lectures on America Stakes Abroad at Foundation

James G. McDonald president of the Foreign Policy Association of America spoke in Cannon Chapel under the Jacob Billikopf Foundation series titled Americas Stake Abroad. He addressed Russia and the Orient noting Bolshevik Russia rapid industrialization and China’s current evolution in a conflict between East and West and between Communism and Capitalism.

The International Relations Club will honor five standout members with keys this year John Cowley J Branch Echols Clayton D Sweet George Tedrick and A J Villani for leadership and active participation. May Day Pageant to Be Presented Tomorrow at Westhampton

Westhampton's annual May Day presented by the Senior Class will occur tomorrow if weather allows. The two scene historical pageant opens with Dogwood Dell as Werowocomoco with Pocahontas and John Smith, then shifts to the Greek Theatre for English queen and maidens.

Honor Fraternities Announce Election Of New Members

Omicron Delta Kappa Tau Kappa Alpha and Pi Delta Epsilon center announce next Thursday May 7 at 11 o'clock in the chapel the election of new members. The tap ceremony will reveal the winners as they are tapped while seated in the audience. Alpha and Pi Delta Epsilon are among the three outstanding honorary fraternities on the Richmond campus.

Forensic Council Elects Officers for Coming Year

The Richmond College Forensic Council elected Harold H Hutcheson as president and Rufus Darden as secretary and treasurer. The president will manage debates and arrange contests with other institutions with the secretary assisting. Two literary society representatives and three student body members will join the council next year. A proposal to award a debating cap to the top debater was discussed but postponed.

Math Association to Convene Here Saturday May 9

The Maryland District of Columbia Virginia section of the Mathematical Association of America will hold its spring meeting at the University of Richmond on Saturday May 9. The group aims to promote mathematics in America through paper readings and discussions with seven papers planned in morning and afternoon sessions. Nonresident members will receive a luncheon and a tour of historic places.

University of Richmond Plans Centennial Celebration in 1932

Centennial events set for April 24 to 26 include religious services alumni receptions and campus speeches. A three day program features educational addresses a historical pageant class reunions and publication of the university history with portraits of former professors and benefactors.

Motion Substituted for Discontinuance of Budget Fees

At the regular weekly Student Government Association meeting Gerhard C. Henricksen proposed a substitute for the motion to discontinue the 1951 32 budget fee. The substitute calls for attempting to collect next year and assigns administration input if funds fall short. The May 11 vote will decide the resolution as class meetings occur this period for next year’s officers.

Westhampton Junior Wins in Playwriting Contest

Mary Lucile Saunders a Westhampton junior won first place in the Tournament of Arts and Crafts playwriting contest in Richmond. Her debut work The Son's Father, presented at the Richmond Academy of Arts and Crafts banquet at the Jefferson Hotel on April 21, features an American son returning to a Chinese father who fails to recognize him.

Puppet Show Delights Red Cross Audience

A puppet show performed by Sophomores last Friday evening at the Red Cross Building drew a large crowd. Hansel and Gretel, written by Mildred Alexander and Virginia Campbell, impressed with clever puppetry and graceful figures, especially Gretel over Hansel.

Class Elections Set For Monday Meetings

Class meetings are scheduled for Monday May 4 to elect officers for the next school year. The Freshman Class will meet in the Biology Building at 11 o clock, the Sophomore in the Chemistry Lecture Room, the Junior in Room J, and the Senior in Room K.
