Dr McDanel Elected to Omicron Delta Kappa

Dr R C McDanel professor of American history was elected to membership on the National Council of Omicron Delta Kappa at the silver anniversary conclave in Washington and Lee last Saturday. He previously served as Province Deputy of the eastern province and conducted a convention forum on circle activities. Dr Wilbur H Norcross was elected national president. The 400 brothers from 46 chapters attended. the local chapter founded in 1921 was represented by 17 members.

Contemporary Civilization Course to be Abolished at Richmond College

Richmond College will drop the Contemporary Civilization course from the 1980-41 catalog. Dean Raymond B Pinchbeck announced the course, begun in 1934 to give freshmen a broad view of civilization, will no longer be required for all freshmen except those in two laboratory science tracks.

Interliterary Societies Debate Paid Athletes Question

The Mu Sigma Rho and Philologian Literary Societies begin debates on April 17 at Williams School of Law building and on April 24 in Administration Building Room 1. Each contest features both negative and affirmative teams under the Forensic Council. Last year Mu Sigma Rho won and has its name engraved on the dean’s plaque.

April 4 SPS Show spotlighting Vandergraaff and Osculometer

Sigma Pi Sigma hosts the annual science show on Tuesday night April 4 at 7:80. The event alternates between physics and chemistry departments with exhibits including a Vandergraaff generator, an Edison phonograph, light wave demonstrations, and the Osculometer measuring kissing power. Coordinators Franklin Crouch and Kenneth Garrison of Richmond lead the Vandergraaff display. Reginald Cosby and Forrest Norvell explain light communication. Sigma Pi Sigma officers and members from Richmond, Washington, and nearby towns participate alongside physics professors Dr. Loving, Dr. Lampson, and Dr. Albright. The Chemistry Club contributes a motion machine exhibit.

Samuel W. Stevenson assistant professor of English at Richmond College wins 160000 in the Trish Hospital Sweepstakes. The identity of Ride-a Wee is confirmed as Professor Stevenson. He plans to add the prize to his salary and joked about buying a new briefcase. Local officials praise the win and consider endowment and university improvements.
