President I. W. Boatwright will travel to Washington to finalize a potential navy program using Richmond College as an officers training school. Stephen L. Mitchell Jr 21 son of Mrs 8 L Mitchell of 605 Watt St Martinaville was named a Naval Aviation Cadet and sent to Pensacola Florida for intermediate flight training. He studied at the University of Richmond for three years and ran on the varsity track team. In October he completed elimination training at Anacostia Naval Reserve Aviation Base. After the intensive Annapolis of the Air course he will earn the Wings of Gold and be commissioned Ensign in the Naval Reserve or Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps Reserve.

Richmond College picks editors and managers for Collegian and Web
The University of Richmond Board of Publications announced appointments for the Richmond College editor and managing editors of the Collegian and Web yearbook. Warren Walthall becomes Richmond College editor of the region, with Omar Mardan and Albert Russinoff as managing editors, Nelms Kyle as business manager, Linwood Horne as Richmond College editor of the Web, and Louise Cardozo assisting the Westhampton editor. Horne also serves as vice-president with past roles in student journalism.

A woodpecker on a college Playhouse vent hammered away in rat tat tat fashion drawing a crowd as it pecked metal venting. The bird kept at it until realizing the sheet steel was too tough and flew off after the noise subsided.
