Phi Beta Kappa Installation Set for April 12

The Virginia Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa will be installed Friday April 12 at 11:00 A M in the Trophy Room of the Roger Millhiser Memorial Gymnasium. Dr Clark S Northrup of Cornell University and Dr O M Vorhees of New York will attend to induct officers. A public convocation in the Chapel follows at noon with faculty and senior procession.

Inauguration Ceremonies for New Officers Today

The Student Government inaugurates its new leadership at 11:00 in the Chapel. Thomas C. Yeaman becomes President succeeding Lloyd H. Caster, with Frank M. Lacy as Vice President, James R. Robinson as Secretary, Phil Newton as Treasurer. Four senators-at-large also take seats, guiding a year noted for higher Student Budget fees.

Holidays Begin March 27 On Campus Refectory Meals

Students staying on campus for the Easter holidays must notify the Dean's office now. Holidays start at noon next Wednesday March 27 and meals will be provided at the college refectory. Regular classes resume from 16 00 on Thursday April 4.

Y M C A Plans New Student Activities at Richmond College

The YMCA under J B Dailey plans a student handbook for Richmond College with I L Honts as editor and Dailey as business manager. Bill Carter leads publicity with Henry Whalen and J L Croom assistants. BEFF Overton handles a freshmen questionnaire for next fall. Louis Hoffman oversees the continuation on page 5.

Two Speakers Secured for Preachers' School

The Summer School for Pastors will run June 24 to July 3. Dr W H Davis of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and M A of Richmond College will lead Greek New Testament courses. Dr Henry Alfred Porter, formerly of Charlottesville, will preach at noon for the first week. Other features are being arranged for ministers from the state and neighboring areas.

Sophomores Stage Imaginative Play “The Yellow Jacket”

The Sophomore Class of Westhamp ton College presented The Yellow Jacket last Friday evening. The Red Cross Building decorations set the mood and the play’s imaginative design impressed critics. Misses Beck and Murrell led a production praised for atmosphere and effort although interpretations varied between realism and farce.

University of Richmond Summer School Opens June 17

The University of Richmond Summer School of Arts and Sciences begins Monday June 17, 1929, lasting nine weeks until August 16. Registration occurs June 17 with classes starting the next day. The program serves regular degree students, those seeking to remove conditions, pre medical science, teachers pursuing credits, and high school students aiming to meet college entrance requirements.

Merger and Wake Forest Debate Here April 11 12

The University of Richmond faces Mercer University on April 11 1929 and Wake Forest College on April 12 1929 in the University auditorium to debate adopting a substitute for the jury system. Duke University debate date set for April 22 1929 at 11 00 A M. Westhampton College debates Temple University today with one team here and one there. Local teams include Dorothy Epperly Sarah Cohn Frances Noblin and Elizabeth Hale.

The Collegian will not publish next week because Easter holidays begin Wednesday at noon. Regular publication resumes with Friday, April 12, after students return to duties. Air reporters should expect assignments on Friday, April 5.

Seminary Quartet Sings in Chapel

B R Lacy D D president of Union Theological Seminary spoke to students at Chapel Monday morning to a large crowd. A student quartet performed two hymns Richness of Love and I Want My Life to Tell for Jesus with Jim Calegean John Cunningham Tom Hamilton and James Gray aboard.

Committee proposes major and minor degree changes

President Boatwright reported at the February trustees meeting that a faculty committee recommended amendments to degree requirements. Students would major in one subject and minor in a related course. The proposal sets one major of 24 hours (20 in laboratory sciences) in a related department for B S degrees, with majors drawn from laboratory sciences and mathematics.

Glee Club Opens Season With March 26 Concerts

The University of Richmond Glee Club begins its season Tuesday March 26 with preliminary concerts at Venable Street Baptist Church conducted by Edward D. Naff.
