Girls Glee Club of Harrisonburg to be Heard Here

Richmond College Glee Club hosts Harrisonburg State Teachers Glee Club in a concert at the Women's Club at 8 15 p m on Saturday April 6. Reciprocal arrangement set with Harrisonburg Club to sponsor a Richmond College program at their school.

MIT Professor Dr Lewis addresses chemistry students

Dr W K Lewis of MIT spoke last Friday afternoon to chemistry students on using analogies to clarify scientific thinking. He illustrated topics such as molecular attraction surface tension vaporization osmotic pressure gas pressure and surface absorption in original graphic form. He also met with chemistry and physics students planning engineering careers at the Institute and, before the lecture, addressed Richmond businessmen about training for scientific industrial development.

Westhampton Sophs Present Chinese Play Tonight

The Sophomore Class of Westhampton College will stage The Yellow Jacket at 8 15 in the Red Cross Building. Tickets cost fifty or seventy five cents, with proceeds supporting the class. The cast features Nancy Buxton Wu Sin Yin Tai Fah Min and others with Miss Lauretta Taylor directing the music and Miss Emily Brown overseeing the production.

Oratorical Contest Promises Prizes At Richmond and West Hampton

West Hampton and Richmond Colleges contestants will compete Thursday evening in the Chapel Building for prizes funded by Adton A. Yoder of Chicago. The program includes orations on In Appreciation of Woodrow Wilson and performances by the Litthe Symphony Orchestra and Glee Club.

Dr McBain Delivers Founders Day Address at Randolph-Macon

Dr Howard Lee McBain, Graduate Dean at Columbia and Richmond College alumnus, gave the Founders Day Address at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg last Tuesday evening. En route, he visited the campus Monday afternoon sharing the idea that all roads back to any place in Virginia lead through the University campus.

Southern Students Conference at Blue Ridge Set for June

For twenty years South college students travel to Blue Ridge each summer for a ten day conference. Since 1912 the Blue Ridge Association hosts Y M C A and Y W C A conferences advancing service to the South. This year the Southern Students' Conference of the Y M C A will run for ten days at the hills site.

Phi Kappa Sigma Wins Richmond College Basketball Race

Phi Kappa Sigma won the fraternity basketball championship at Richmond College last Monday. The deciding game against Lambda Chi Alpha was held in Millhiser Memorial Gymnasium with Coach Dobson as referee.

First Burial in New Henry M Cannon Chapel

The first burial in the Henry M Cannon Memorial Chapel has occurred. The large fallen stone spire was interred where it fell due to removal costs. Dr Boatwright, inspecting progress, found two men digging a grave in the chapel vestibule for the stone.

Dean Prince Announces Special Examinations Dates

The Dean's office announces special examinations for the past semester on Friday and Saturday after Easter, April 5-6 1929, or at the college opening in September. Students paying a two dollar fee and applying at the Dean's office may have exams prepared. exams begin Friday afternoon April 5 at 10 o'clock in Room F unless otherwise requested.

University of Richmond Forensic Schedule For March April

The University of Richmond lists a six debate slate for March and April with Westhampton College meeting three Southern schools. Frances Noblin and Elizabeth Hale argue the negative against Temple University in Philadelphia on Thursday while Friday’s Westhampton team argues the affirmative at home. The schedule includes Mercer University and Wake Forest participation in April with interest in April 11 and 12 when teams from Mercer and Wake visit.

New Chapel furniture to be selected today

Administrative officers and the supervising architect confer on pews and rostrum furniture for the new chapel. Samples from various houses are under review to harmonize with the building’s architectural style. decisions expected by evening.

Y W C A And M C A Host Weekly Delightful Program

Richmond College Y M C A and Y W C A staged a small party at the Red Cross Building last Saturday night. Guests joined in partner selection by name, with activities including bridge chess checkers dominoes corn popping and conversation. The college quartet Robinson Caster Yeaman and Dixon provided strong musical entertainment.
