Waring to award trophy for best rendition of The Fighting Spiders

Fred Waring offers an 18 inch tall gold lyre topped trophy to the fraternity judged best at performing his song The Fighting Spiders at the University of Richmond. Interfraternity Council to set contest rules and judges. many colleges plan similar events during Interfraternity Relations Week.

Westhampton College Elects Leaders In Student Government

Ninita Gonzalez was elected president of the Student Government and Laura Jenkins became chairman of the Honor Council during this week’s Westhampton College elections. Frances Badenoch won the Athletic Association presidency for 1941 42 and Ethne Flannagan will head the YWCA. Betsy Rice and Helen Ridgley were chosen secretary and treasurer respectively, with Reba Booker the junior representative to the Honor Council and Kay Hanley representing sophomores on the college council. Anne Frank was elected vice president of the YWCA.

Frosh Soph Hop With Van Keys Promises Great Celebration

Frosh and sophomores plan a Tuesday night dance in Millhiser Gym with Van Keys and his college rhythms from 9 to 1. Dress is informal for men and formal for women. Tickets cost 85 cents in advance or 1.00 at the door.

Exams Announced for Special First Semester Tests

Special examinations for the first semester will be held on March 28 at 2 00 PM. Students who received conditional grades last semester must pay a $2 00 examination fee before spring vacation if they wish to take the special exam. Those not taking now may do so in September.

Faculty Committee To Investigate Senior Exam Plan

March 6 faculty meeting reviewed proposed elimination of senior exams. An investigatory committee chaired by Dr. Holtzclaw and including Professors Skinner McDanel and Dean Pinchbeck plus Dr. Harlan will report by April 6. Thomas Pugh defended the plan proposing senior eligibility rules and a possible fourth month quiz.

Lambda Chi Wins Harlequin Club Bridge Trophy

Lambda Chi Alpha defeated Gibson Hooten and Alvin Beale of Phi Gamma Delta in the finals to win the annual Harlequin Club Bridge Tournament on Wednesday. Twenty-five teams competed, with every fraternity represented by two players as Lambda Chi captured the trophy from a large field.
