Doss Pond and Curtis Top Honors in Players Revue

Top honors were awarded to Bob Doss Jimmy Pond and Betty Jane Curtis at the Players Revue with semifinals set for WMBC and a potential national broadcast on Horace Heidts NBC program March 21. The near capacity audience praised a wide range of acts including Ossie Jernigan and an array of campus talent.

University Band to Join Mary Washington for Fredericksburg Concert

The University of Richmond Band directed by Mark Troxell will travel to Fredericksburg on April 3 for a joint concert with Mary Washington College's all girl band. About 40 musicians will ride a chartered bus, attend a dance at Mary Washington Gym, and return the same night. Proceeds fund new uniforms.

First Month Shows Decline In Failures at Richmond

At the University of Richmond, seventy nine students about six percent of the 1247 men, failed to pass nine semester hours in the first month. Dean Pinchbeck praised the results, noting they are better than before the war and than the prior term.

Richmond College Economists to Attend Virginia Industrial Conference

Three Richmond College economics students and two faculty members will represent the University at the Virginia Industrial Conference, to be held March 19 and 20 at the Virginia Military Institute. The delegation is led by Dr. U Werman P. Thomas and includes Dean F Byers Miller and other college officials. Notable speakers include Governor William M. Tuck, Colgate W. Darden, and Edwin Haskell Scheel. Other participating schools listed include Washington and Lee, University of Virginia, William and Mary, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

Honor Council Publishes Code Violations and Clarifies Pony Status

The Richmond College Honor Council proposes that faculty announce at semester start whether ponies in language courses violate the honor code. It also released a list of 11 cases from the school year, with penalties ranging from minor to major suspensions and permanent dismissal, to inform students and officials.

Veterans missing March subsistence seek aid from Mr Merritt

Pay shy veterans must report to Room 108 Faculty Building on Friday March 12 from 9 am to 12 30 pm to collect overdue March subsistence. Students under Public Law 16 who did not meet Mr Merritt on March 3 or 4 should report March 12.

Harris Wins University Of Richmond Oratorical Contest

Baine Harris took first place in the University of Richmond Oratorical Contest, with Westhampton College student Mrs Betty Smith Graham finishing second for her speech To Be or Not To Be. Honorable Mentions went to Warren Russell and W S Phipps. Harris earns inscription on the Ovation Plaque and invitations to state and Grand National tournaments. Both Harris and Mrs Graham receive gold oration keys from the Forensic Council.

Initiation Set for April 8 for Phi Beta Kappa Fellows

Internationally renowned artist Mr. Warren Chappell and criminology researcher Mr. J Maurice Snelling were elected from University alumni to Phi Beta Kappa. They join the 21 undergraduates in a joint ceremony at the Hotel Jefferson with addresses by Dr. Ralph Barton Perry and a dinner to follow.

UK Debaters Take Honors At South Atlantic Meet

Betty Graham won Women's Poetry Reading and Charles Harvey top honors in Men's Problem Solving at the South Atlantic Debate Tournament held last weekend in Hickory North Carolina. Wake Forest and the University of Florida tied for first. Richmond pair John Chamberlayne and Charles Harvey posted a 3 of 5 record.
