Mortar Board taps seven Westhampton women for membership
Seven Westhampton students were tapped for Mortar Board on Tuesday night Judith Saunders Acreo Barbara Dale Boatwright Iris Layne Creedle Diana Keith Light Julia Lee Perkinson Nancy Dale Richardson and Alice Venlinder Hall Hall became president of next year s Mortar Board by tradition Hall is a dean s list student and member of Pi Mu Epsilon Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Alpha Theta Acree serves as secretary of College Government on the Westhampton basketball team and is president of North Court Creedle is Junior House Leader at South Court Boatwright is vice president of her class and has held multiple student leadership roles Light is a dean s list student and editor at the Coitoran Richardson is a dean s list student and orientation counselor Perkinson has held class leadership roles and chairs in College Government and the Honor Council.

Westhampton Ring Dance to Feature Hudson Big Band
Westhampton College hosts the Westhampton Ring Dance featuring Dean Hudson and his orchestra. Nancy Paree, Chuck Nolan, and Jimmy Lackey headline a night of performance with a Moon Over Miami Man concert in the afternoon and the formal ring ceremony at 9. Tickets are $3 for the concert and $4 for the dance.

Term Paper Award Deadline Approaches
Students may submit A or B graded term papers for a history contest run by the R C G McDanel Historical Society at Richmond College. Deadline is April 1 with submissions to society officers or history faculty. The next Historical Society meeting is March 27 at 7 30 p m with a talk by Professor W B Hackley.

Coach Pitt on Fraternity Spirit and William Higgs on Chapter Finance close the event. the conference is expected to be profitable and advantageous.

Van Doren Lectures On Seeing And Poetry At University
Dr. Mark Van Doren lectured at the University this week reading poems and commenting on them. He stressed noticing the world, the beauty and danger of life, and the value of art in human life. He read love sonnets, Civil War themes, and humorous pieces, concluding with Morning Worship and Dance Songs.
