First Place Messenger Takes VIPA Top Honors

The Messenger magazine from the University of Richmond won first place at VIPA the semi annual convention in Lynchburg. George Taylor was elected VIPA vice president and Samuel Weimin named ex officio member of the executive committee. Virginia Tech VPI and University of Virginia Spectator placed second and third respectively in magazine judging. Washington and Lee Ring Tam Phi won first in newspaper judging with Stratford Traveler and Rotunda honorable mentions. About 111 delegates attended the event co hosted by Randolph Macon Woman's College and Lynchburg College with 17 UR publications delegates.

ASCAP Law School Prize Offered For Copyright Papers

ASCAP announces prizes for the best papers on Copyright Law at the University of Richmond Law School. Two students will win 150 and 50 dollars, with no inter-school competition. The contest, started in 1939, honors Nathan Burkan, a noted copyright attorney and ASCAP founder.

Newhouse Wins BS Student Presidency

Newhouse defeats Burton by one vote to win the School of Business student presidency for the coming year. Charles Minter wins vice president. Joe Brooks becomes secretary. James Howell elected treasurer. Senators at large split between Student and All Campus parties with Woodson and Pollard taking posts. Ralph Graves secures athletic representative. 132 ballots cast with one double vote exception.

Westhampton College Junior Prom A Garden Scene

The Class of 1951 at Westhampton College hosts a Junior Prom tomorrow night March 11 at 8 30 in Keller Hall. Dick Radford's orchestra plays Moonlight and Roses as 61 juniors and their dates form letters and receive Westhampton rings. Chaperones include Dr and Mrs Ruben Alley Mr and Mrs Jewitt Campbell with Isabel Harris and others assisting in serving refreshments.

King at UR After Flying Jets

Henry King, who flew jets before he could vote, returns to the University of Richmond after a four year Air Force stint. Enlisting in 1946 after a Richmond College summer session, he served with the 14th Fighter Wing at Dow Air Base and then the 35th Fighter Wing at Otis Air Base. He trained on jets, flew F-84s, believes jets outrun propeller planes in war and notes jets remain cool in cold weather. Continued on Page 6.
