University Head Approves Sunday Sports Privileges

President F. W. Boatwright announced that Richmond College will permit Sunday sports this spring with restrictions. Activities include boating handball and tennis from 2 to 6 p m. Participants must be properly clothed with full length pants and shirts. shorts are banned on all courts and campus areas. The Board of Trustees approved the plan contingent on these rules, following pressure from dormitory students and the outgoing student government led by Richard Poage.

Richmond College Glee Club Cast Named for Romeo and Juliet

The Richmond College Glee Club selects double roles for the burlesque operetta Romeo and Juliet. Cast includes Fred Laughan as Romeo and Frank Nunnally as Juliet with George Harper as the apothecary and Ray Lanier as the nurse. Performances are slated for April 12 and 18 with a first half of songs and a March 16 concert at Averette College in Danville.

Westhampton College set to launch new student elections

Westhampton College will start a new election system with nominations for president of College Government on March 11. A student body meeting led by Anna Hallett outlined a nominating committee from college groups and class presidents to oversee elections for college officers, the Judiciary Board, and class presidents over the following weeks.

Three Debate Men Depart On Long Trip

Luther H. Jenkins a Richmond publisher and civic figure died of a heart attack last Friday at his office. Funeral services were held Sunday at his residence with Rev Solon B Cousing officiating. Honorary pallbearers included Governor Peery ex governor Pollard and ex governor E Lee Trinkle. Born February 21 1850 in Fredericksburg he moved to Richmond after Civil War times and built the Jenkins publishing house.

Uncontested Lead Edges 1935 Student Government Races

Charles H. Ryland of University of Richmond won the student government presidency with 277 votes in a three cornered race amid a 520 vote total. John Higharrow and Herbert Hash trailed, while James G. Baldwin and Forrest L. Collier won VP and treasurer without opposition. Charles Wood defeated two Richmond rivals for secretary, Alfred Dickinson and others won senate seats, and Athletic Association posts went to George Lucy, William F. Robertson, and Ernest L. Brooks without opposition.
