Rigmarole Has Sell-Out Opens Tonight at University Playhouse

Rigmarole debuts tonight at the University Playhouse featuring four original songs with skits from eleven fraternities. George Romney leads solo dance and acts with Los Caballeros and a black-face act by Bill Robertson. The ten-piece Ed Harris orchestra opens with an overture before song numbers and interludes, plus many dancers and a singing chorus.

Large Group Votes Strict Observance of Eligibility Rules

A large student vote on Wednesday split into three sections. The first division shows 9 wanting the current system, 62 favor scholastic aid for athletes, and 287 support open aid with student status kept. Two hundred eighty seven vote yes with status tied to food standing. 32 abstained. Block II records 90 approve a complete new plan while 66 oppose. a large majority prefer a workable substitute, with 283 favoring this section.

Richmond College Names 1940 Election Officers

Richmond College voters chose Ernest Wooten as senator at large with 246 votes and Tom Todd and Dick Stoneburner tied for second at 212. Russell Tate won secretary with 207 votes, Bill Robertson became Athletic Council rep with 242, and Al Dickinson Fletcher Raiford and Tommy Johnson secured president vice president and Publications board posts. installation set for March 26 at University Playhouse.

Westhampton Recreational Building Under Construction

Work on the Westhampton Recreational Building progresses and is slated for fall use. The main floor will host a lobby reception room gymnasium lecture room athletic offices and a men’s rest room. Second floor houses alumnae rooms while the Richmond Women’s College portion. A third floor auditorium will serve student activities and dances. Wings are not yet constructed.
