Tryouts for Glash with Johns Hopkins Monday

Preliminaries for Johns Hopkins debate will be held in the chapel Monday at 3 pm to select two Richmond representatives for a March 6 clash. The topic: Resolved That the Proposed Child Labor Amendment Should Be Made a Part of the Constitution.

Varsity Club Plans Student Night at Y M C A

The Varsity Club will stage a January 28 program at the Y M C A with many students expected. The event opens an extended series where different groups will lead weekly meetings including fraternities the Glee Club the Band and faculty. Dr Harlan and Coach Dobson will speak as part of the program announcements.

Spider Band Plays at McDaniel Anniversary Supper

The Spider Band performed for Dr. G. W. McDaniel during the twentieth anniversary celebration of his pastorate at the First Baptist Church. He was the guest of the congregation at a supper held in his honor.

Columbia Professor to Speak at Richmond Westhampton Convocation

Dr Edward T Devine of Columbia University will address local college students at a convocation of Richmond and Westhampton Colleges. He will speak at noon on Friday January 40 on The Three Great Revolutionists and has been secured for the event.

U R German Club Dances Tonight With Old Dominion Orchestra

The German Club at the University of Richmond holds its regular midwinter dance tonight at Tray Boy Studio starting 9 30 PM. The Old Dominion Orchestra will provide the music and many students including out of town visitors are expected. Easter dance plans were announced for Easter Monday and the following Tuesday with German Club and Varsity Club hosting respectively.

Hold Student Election In Week Of March

Harold Snead announces the regular student election will be held the first week in March following longstanding custom. The administration has not finalized the plan, but the first Tuesday in March is expected as the election day with many aspirants preparing through daily practice and campaign activity.

Local Delta Kappa to Hold Public Meeting Next Tuesday

Omnicon Delta Kappa honorary fraternity on the local campus will hold its semi-annual public meet ing at the chapel next Tuesday. The meeting will include the public announcement of new pledges. Judson Evans serves as president of the group.

Declamers Meet To Be Held Here At State Contest

Representatives of high and preparatory schools from across Virginia will attend the annual declamation contest to be held here February 20. The event, organized by Professor TH Handy, is expanding with more letters sent to English teachers and growing participation anticipated from many schools.

Seniors plan an extensive production titled Fashion at the Academy of Music on Wednesday. Beginning Jan 26 students must attend chapel three days a four week period with one feature service replacing Friday. A year end pledge confirms chapel attendance compliance.

Rat Banquet Plans Advance at University

Freshman classes of Richmond and West Hampton anticipate a large Rat Banquet at the Richmond Hotel. Over two hundred freshmen expected, with committees formed and cooperation urged by President Sibold. A class social in the gym to meet fellow students and arrange banquet dates is planned.

U O R Alumni Meet Planned for Cafeteria Tonight

Richmond College alumni led by President C. M. Luck meet in the cafeteria to elect an official secretary, discuss other matters, and plan a monthly magazine. The Spider quartet will perform, composed of local students except former University student H. H. Hale. Many alumni expected to attend the William and Mary game after supper.

Senior Class Presents Fashion at the Academy of Music

University of Richmond students stage Fashion by Anna Richie next Wednesday at the Academy of Music marking the first large scale senior production at that venue. Miss Emily Brown directs with a cast including L. Davis Warren Chappell Anne Gordon Louise Wilkinson and Alpha Gordon. Tickets are on sale with exchanges for seat coupons and distribution in town.

Westhampton Glee Club to Stage The Egyptian Princess

Westhampton College Glee Club, organized in 1924 with Miss Margaret Miller as president, will present The Egyptian Princess this winter. Last year's operetta Feast of the Little Red Bar was popular. Miss Harriet Sharon, current president, promises elaborate scenery, costumes, and charming music.
