Ted Weems to headline Mid-Winter Dances replacing Glen Gray

Ted Weems and his Orchestra, creator of the hit "Heartaches," will play for the Interfraternity Dance Committee's Mid-Winter Dances on February 20 and 21, replacing Glen Gray who canceled due to illness. Elmo Tanner will also appear as the notable whistler. The event includes a Friday formal and orchid gifts for sponsors, with a bonus concert for ticket holders Friday Feb 20 from 4 to 6 pm.

U. S. Students Eligible For Summer Courses In British Schools

About six hundred places will be reserved for American students at summer schools held by seven British universities during July and August 1948. Courses last six weeks covering European Civilization Shakespeare Elizabethan Drama Britain's Economic Future and more. Applications for GI Bill grants go through the VA regional office. subsistence is not covered. Enquiries to the Institute of International Education New York.

Debate Teams Vie In Three Contests

Two University of Richmond debaters faced American University and George Washington University in two non decisive debates held in Washington DC. Earlier Richmond met Randolph Macon College in two dual meets with no decision. Representing Richmond were Glen Grimmell Martin Shohtzberger Mrs Betty Graham and Charles Harvey.

VA Forms Needed For Vet's Transfer To Other Schools

Student veterans planning transfers for the second semester must secure four VA steps. Obtain satisfactory progress certificate, get supplemental eligibility from VA, request transfer of records to the new regional VA office, and notify VA of a new mailing address to prevent subsistence delays. Change of address forms are available at many colleges.

Taylor elected Sophomore Senator in class meeting

Taylor won the Sophomore Class election Tuesday with 95 votes to 72 for opponent David Duggan, succeeding Nelson Weber who resigned before the Christmas holidays.

Apple Blossom Princess Named at Westhampton College

Susan Dickinson of Front Royal was elected Apple Blossom Princess to represent Westhampton College at Winchester Virginia's Apple Blossom Festival on April 29. Anne Bowie Clark WO College Government president announced the result after the college government meeting in Kelley Hall. Other candidates in the five way race were Beth Wilburn Jackie Pitt Rene Barbour and Carolyn Bonham.

Junior Class president Stuart Massie announces Bob Lane will lead a newly formed Scholarship Committee to assist academically at risk juniors. The group will pair top students in specific classes as coaches for those not passing, aiming to improve overall scholastic standing. Two TC Williams Students Honored by National Fraternities

Sixteen students and one professor were tapped by Pi Delta Epsilon and Tau Kappa Alpha in a chapel ceremony. PDE selected Westhamptonites and Richmond College students for journalism work on campus publications. TKA honored Richmond College debaters and forensics figures including Lloyd F. Pierce.

Web Staff Lists 14 UK Groups Owing for Page Space

Fourteen university organizations were listed as not having paid their page allotments for the 1948 Web by the Collegian deadline yesterday. The groups include Phi Alpha Mortar Board Philologian Literary Society McNeil Law Society Mu Sigma Rho Literary Society Wesley Foundation University Players Nos trae Filiae Omicron Delta Kappa Beta Beta Beta Canterbury Club Theta Chi Interfraternity Council and Pi Delta Epsilon. Jim Robinson the yearbook business manager said payment must be made immediately or the contracted allotment will be forfeited. He added that he wants to make the Web the best ever and it depends on the students and their organizations.
