Spain Announces Refectory Change At Richmond College

Dickie Spain reports to the Richmond College assembly on refectory improvements. Changes include lunch 12 to 1, dinner 5 30 to 6 15, breakfast 7 30 to 8, with discussion of a future 8 30 to 9 breakfast. Slater System excuses crowding citing limited facilities. Heart Fund Dates Campaign in Richmond Area

The Richmond Area Heart Association announces a February fund raising drive from the 1st to the 28th affiliated with the American Heart Association. Heart disease remains the nation’s leading killer with about 875000 deaths yearly and over 500000 schoolchildren affected. The campaign seeks public support to advance research and prevention efforts.

Boatwright Memorial Library has posted new evening hours effective through exams. Weeknights open daily from 6 30 pm to 11 pm from the first Monday through the second Wednesday.

Mina Reelected President of Philologian Society

Abdullah Mina wins a third term as Philologian president serving one semester, after editing the university literary magazine last year. Edward Heite of Dover serves a fourth term as vice president while Toler and Millar hold key secretary and treasurer roles in student and honorary organizations. Charles Wyatt III to take Mina’s seat on the Forensic Council with prior roles as treasurer and secretary.

Moral Decline Cited By Assembly Speaker

At a Richmond College assembly on Tuesday Dr. Bert B. Bradley, professor of speech, warned of a decline in moral standards citing television scandals and cheating in colleges. He urged individuals to set their own code of ethics to combat the trend and prevent unprepared graduates entering society.

School Named For Late Dean R B Pinchbeck

Henrico County voters approve a new elementary school named for Dr Raymond B Pinchbeck. Located at Gayton and Gaskins Roads in Richmond West end the school was named December 15 1960 and aims to open September 1961. Pinchbeck as Dean of Richmond College and longtime Henrico school board chair contributed to education and state local government reforms.

Dr White's Final Concert Draws Overflow at University

John White harpsichordist presented the third in a Faculty Concert series last Sunday at 4:00 in Keller Hall. An overflow crowd estimated at seven hundred heard his final concert at the University of Richmond. The instrument was a harpsichord built for him by William Dowd of Boston. Also on the program were Professor James Erb soloist and Professor Robert Barker flutist.
