Art Baldwins Band To Play For Mid-Winters Dances

Art Baldwin known as Joe debuts his Vi-piene band at the University of Richmond for Mid-Winter dances on February 7 and 8. The schedule includes a 4:30 to 6:80 concert Friday, a 9:00 to 1:00 formal Friday, and a Saturday 8:00 to 12:00 semi-formal. The group, formed recently with Richmond Professional Institute musicians, features Carolyn Talley on vocals and piano, the Reflectors quintet, Solon Gousing, and Lady Minnigh as seat singer, with praise from locals for a top regional act in a Glenn Miller style.

Richmond College Activities Building Construction Plans 1947

Jensen Lawrence Jensen Jr of Richmond elected president of the C Mitchell Literary Society at a meeting. Lawson Pankey as retiring president announced six new officers to serve with Jensen. New officers include M D Williams vice president Irvin Robinson secretary Harold Katz treasurer Jimmy Richman serjeant at arms and Kermit McKenzie as Literary Critic. Fletcher Stiers named representative to the Forensic Council. All officers from Richmond.

David and Singleton Named Editors at Collegian

David a junior and A L Singleton a freshman at Richmond College were elevated to news editor and copy editor respectively by editor-in-chief Cliff Long. Walter Hoover remains managing editor with Thad Crump as the other managing editor. David joined the staff last September and gained notice with his script for the trial of Joe Colliteh at the University of Richmond Pep Rally.

Dime Dances To Re-open Friday Night Event

The weekly Friday dime dances resume tonight in the College Government Room Keller Hall at 7 15 with the freshmen class of Westhampton sponsoring. The informal dance features a juke box and refreshments and aims to foster goodwill between university divisions and provide on campus recreation for Friday daters.

Web editor announces Miss Westhampton will be paired with the most handsome man from Richmond College for the 1947 yearbook. Candidates from both sides will be voted on by women and men, with the top ten from each group advancing. Photos by Wendell Powell will feature both winners in the yearbook.

UR Methodists To Meet Sunday

Dorothy Beck Wins Dorm Post at Thomas Hall

Dorothy Beck of Westfield New Jersey won the dormitory presidency in a December 16 election at Thomas Hall. She will chair the Residence Council through June and oversee sections A to D with representatives Claire Noren Martha Vandever Kathy Young Martha Spencer Jean Pollock. The council promotes constructive student work and handles minor social offense charges under Ollie Menefee.

Richmond College Considers 1947 Library and Activities Building

University leader President Modlin outlined plans linking a new library to the long awaited student activities building. Construction could start in late 1947 if business conditions improve, with a 1948 start for the library as originally planned. Costs have risen from 115000 to 175000 200000.
