Student Vote on AA Officers Abolishment Planned

A constitutional amendment proposed by the Senate at Richmond College would abolish future officer elections for the Athletic Association. The vote is set for tomorrow at 12:30 in the compulsory chapel with attendance slips used as ballots. Results will be counted by Student Government officers and reviewed by the dean's office.

Amendment to Section 1 Revoked and Athletic Council Rep Added

The constitution is amended to revoke Section 1. Section 2 adds a provision for the regular annual election of Student Government officers to include a student body representative to the Athletic Council for a one year term. The SG A president and the Athletic Council representative become the student body’s official voices.

Student Government Amendment Sets One Year President as Representative

Under a new amendment the president will take duties of a representative from the student body for one year. George Laos as president becomes the first to hold this office with Charles Ryland as the other student hoady representative by virtue of his position. A formal student government call meeting will conduct the vote with Ptyland presiding.

Thompson Attends NSFA Conference in Kansas City

Miss Louise Thompson represented Westhampton College at the Elev enth Annual Conference of the National Student Federation of America in Kansas City Missouri from December 27 to 31 198. The event hosted by the University of Kansas gathered 150 leading colleges. Theme Youth in a Changing World featured speakers including Gustave Kullman Agnes McPhail John W Studebaker and a National Youth Administration representative. They discussed local politics and international affairs urging college students to defend democracy.

Smith College Professor to Speak at University Convocation

Dr. Ralph Harlow, professor of religion at Smith College and educator from the Near East, will address the University Convocation in Cannon Chapel Friday January 10. The event is sponsored by local YMCA and YWCA. Harlow will visit and lecture for the organizations throughout the day.

Dean on Holiday Theatre Tour in New York

During the holidays Dean Kelley and Miss Pauline Turnbull spent December 23 in New York City. They attended plays and art exhibits, saw Porgy and Bess and Jumbo, followed Parnell with Joseph Holland of Richmond College, and viewed Pride and Prejudice and two Shakespearean productions with the Lunts. They also joined a three day lecture series at the Hotel Astor on antiquities.

Princeton Freshman Hoax Involving Five Classmates Exposed

Five members of the Princeton class of ’49 plotted to frame a freshman by offering a football stakes, a ride to Yale, and a food fundraiser. A New York paper aided the scheme with an interview, but the plan collapsed after students spotted a campus ad seeking old razor blades for “molting purposes.”
