Captain Davis, Albert, Barlow, and Evans led personal outreach and two tent meetings at the Methodist Church drawing larger audiences than usual. The visit included a twelve mile hike and local entertainment hosted by town committees, with about forty unconverted men and boys personally approached about Christian life. Scottsville sits on a horseshoe bend of the James River eighty miles from the Chesapeake and Ohio railway, noted for its hospitality.
