Army Fliers Leave College For Training
Upwards of forty Richmond College students were placed on active duty in the Army Air Corps Reserve yesterday sworn in at the Parcel Post Building. The dean reports about thirty three have notified resignations with seven or eight more likely called. Notable names include footballers Pat Tenlon Houston Sizer Jack Mabry Billy Flowers George Gasser Bill Milter and coach Walter Sonny Whaley plus other active students. Enrollment now below 875 as 49 were taken last week by the Army Reserve and selective service. President Boatwright hopes for further training offers and credits toward degrees by the University for returning students. Bain Teaches New Air Spotter Tactics
John Bain, a recent University of Richmond graduate, is designated to teach university observers plane identification. Classes run daily 8:30 to 6:00 P.M. and 7:30 to 9:00 P.M. through March 8, with repeat sessions for late attendees. Observers must identify allied and enemy planes in reports to the filter center.
