Southern Intercollegiate Chess Opens at Richmond
The fifth annual Southern Intercollegiate Chess Association tournament began at the University of Richmond with seven schools in contention. Defending champions North Carolina lead a field that includes Virginia, Duke, Georgetown, William and Mary, and UNC rivals.

Last Friday the Spiders beat the Cavaliers and the Generals defeated the Indians. The Sophs and Profs miss the Southern Conference Tournament but are labeled for Laugh All-American. A women rules game featured bloomer Williams and a sit-down defense by Dr. Albright.
