The All Campus and Student Parties contest control of the Richmond College Student Government for the coming year. Students will vote Tuesday to decide which party represents them, with a vote on whether to approve a change.
The University of Richmond Collegian will publish a two page election extra on Wednesday March 2 marking the first time student government results are released to Richmond College students before the regular Collegian. The Thursday edition remains for the full university.
The SG Constitution fixes voting hours for the Tuesday election from 9 am to 3 pm. Senate and Honor Council members supervise the process. The offices up for election include president and vice president and a representative to the Board of Publications.
University of Richmond men were not involved in an assault on a University of Virginia student in downtown Richmond after a Blues Armory game. The injured student George Poffenbarger Jr and two Virginians faced three assailants in a fist fight over team merits.
The Modern Language Departments of Richmond and Westhampton Colleges present the French movie Heart of Paris on March 2 in the Physics Lecture Room. Two showings at 4 and 7 30 p.m. The film has English subtitles and stars Raimu and Michelle Morgan.
The Senior Class names Susan Dickinson of Front Royal May Queen and Carolyn Bonham of Chilhowie maid of honor. The May Court includes Lou Winn, Kaki Smith, Audrey Bradford, Vic Gray, Rosie Calhoun, Pegay Haris, Cyne thia Patrick, Mimi Anderson, Jane Dens, and Mitzi Verra with Mimi Thalenbern as alternate. May Day on May 7 features campus booths with an international motif.
University of Richmond debaters set to face Washington and Lee University on the Richmond campus February 26 at 4 p.m. Team members Jack Chadd and Jerry Roberts argue af firmative with Jack Richardson and Neil Cline on the negative. The squad returns from a cold northern trip February 12 after beating Military and Naval Academies and Sursax University and losing to Notre Dame and Boston University.
The Westhampton College Senior Class presents a fashion show on Wednesday at 8 PM in Keller Hall Reception Room. Spring suits dresses and evening ensembles from four classes. Montaldo's Inc. provides clothes and store comments. Admission is 40 cents with tax. Profits fund the Senior Class Project aiding a war orphan in Europe.
The Rev. William Lumpkin resigns as University director of religious activities to become pastor of Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church in Richmond. He will start full duties in June and begin limited duties in April, as announced by Stafford Efford. Lumpkin, a University of Richmond alumnus and former track star, previously led the track team and earned a PhD from the University of Edinburgh.
Announcement lists fraternity sponsors and escorts for the opening midwinter dance at Millhiser Gymnasium with chaperones named. George Yowne and his orchestra will provide music for both dances and a concert tomorrow afternoon from 3 to 4 o'clock in the gym.
Richmond College will host the 1949 Junior Prom in Millhiser Gym March 5 from 9 to 12 with a Manhattan mood inspired Great White Way motif. The Townsmen orchestra from the Westhampton Gold Rush Ball will provide music. Dancing exhibition by Ross Baily School of Dancing. flowers requested by junior class president Bill Astrop. Tickets 25 cents on sale March 25. Westhampton students get 12:30 late permission.
