The Indians edged the Spiders 23 to 15 in a bruising contest at Williamsburg. Williamsburg guards shut down Spider passing while Indians led 16 to 8 at halftime and maintained the margin despite a stronger second half.
Hampden-Sidney defeats the Spiders 24 to 21 on Hampden-Ridney floor in a back and forth contest. Cox shines with long shots as both teams exchange leads. Tigers ride home court familiarity to pull ahead in the second half.
Definite plans emerge for a major pageant on the Richmond College campus to be conducted by all of Richmond's leading institutions. The Bureau of Vocations for Women headed by Dr Orie Ty Slataher at Bryn Mawr influence and Miss Hatcher helped fuse local colleges into one event.
The Chatham Training School Club held its first school club banquet at Richmond College on February 17 with about forty-five members and guests. Under President Bam Hill the event formed the letters T C with a dainty menu and toast remarks, signaling a promising yearly series.
The fourth annual interscholastic declamation event at Richmond College drew a large audience. Nineteen preparatory schools entered, eight advanced to finals after a Tuesday afternoon prelim. Staunton Military Academy opened with The Wanderlust, as program slots were drawn by lot.
Dr. W I Weatherford, secretary for the South, addressed Richmond College Y M C A members and led a campaign to fund a full-time secretary next year. The devotional meeting featured his talk on The Conformist and Non-Conformist and raised several hundred dollars after the Senior Class opened with a $250 subscription.
Westhampton College hosted a joint event with Richmond College students and faculty in the Blue Room. Miss Egleston led the welcome, guests enjoyed dining and refreshments, and Miss Wyeleston received guests as hostess, fostering cordial ties between the colleges.
National Secretary Ralph C Heath of Theta Chi Praternity was the guest of honor at Omicron Chapter’s banquet last Saturday night at Murphy's Hotel. Active members Perdue Boyd Hazelgrove Combs Liggan Johnson Poff Shepherd Owens and alumni Robert Granger Newton Ancarrow Pollard Simpson Moll Richardson Sutherland Steele Leubbert Maclachlan attended along with many others.
Jarland Harwood now 14 and in the Johns Hopkins Medical Department visits College to see old friends while finishing his second year at Hopkins and doing well.
