Leveque to Play Centennial Dance March 1 at Richmond

Roland Leveque and his orchestra with featured soloist Gene Roberts will perform at the Centennial Anniversary dance honoring Richmond College's charter. The event, sponsored by freshman and sophomore classes, runs 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. in Millhiser Gym with red and blue decor. Advance tickets are 76 cents. at the door 90 cents.

WC Graduate Mildred Markham Improves After Accident

Miss Mildred Markham of the class of ’39 is improving at Johnston-Willis Hospital after a mobile accident last Saturday night. She will wear a brace for a period after a six week cast and expects a full recovery. Fellow passenger Miss Margaret Curley of Westhampton sustained minor head and ankle bruises.

Westhampton College Art Exhibit Opens Monday

A two week exhibit of etchings and woodcuts will hang in the date rooms of the Woman's Activities Building at Westhampton College and open Monday afternoon at 3:80 o clock. University of Richmond art students will attend a tea from 8:80 to 6:00 o'clock in the exhibition room. Roberta Winfrey will discuss techniques at 3:30. After Monday the exhibition will be open to the public.

University of Richmond Drama Dept Presents Five Original One-Act Plays

The University of Richmond drama department showcases five original one act plays next Friday March 1 at 7 30 p m in the Playhouse. Admission is free. Social Center Drive Begins Big Gifts Campaign

The Big Gifts Committee of the Social Center campaign met at the Hotel William Byrd to distribute pledge cards for funding an activities building. Alumni secretary Joseph B. Nettles said the entire alumni body will be offered a chance to contribute after cards go out. Key figures include Congressman Dave B. Satterfield as general chairman and Overton Dennis of Dominion Oil Co as committee chair.

French Film at 10 Tomorrow at Westhampton

Sacha Guitry's Les Perles de la Couronne will screen at 10 tomorrow morning at the Westhampton theatre with English subtitles. Dr. W J Gaines says all French students at Richmond and Westhampton Colleges will be excused from 10 30, 11 80 and 12 30 classes tomorrow.

Richmond College Debate Squad Heads South for First Trip Since 1935

Four Richmond College debaters John Jordan Robert Cotten Ed Arendall and manager Gilbert Siegal depart Tuesday on a southern swing visiting University of South Carolina University of Miami University of Georgia Davidson College and Stetson College and Florida Southern College to argue isolationist and conscription topics. Jordan veteran of four years is team leader with Cotten Arendall and Siegal as second-year members.

Messenger Issue To Review Growth

The Messenger plans a centennial themed March issue on the University of Richmond founding. Flossie Lafoon sketches Cannon Chapel from the physics building archway to replace the usual cover photo. Walter Bass aims to publish large presses with Ald cuts of the university site at Lom bardy and Grace Streets. Copies will be on the Administration Building second floor and in the Playhouse.
