Dickinson of V. P. I elected president of press association

J. T. L. Dickinson of V. P. I was elected president of the Intercollegiate Press Association of Virginia at the annual meeting held last week under Pi Delta Epsilon. Other officers include Paula Vogelsang of Randolph-Macon Woman's College as first vice president J W Davis of Washington and Lee as second vice president in charge of publicity and Vivian Hornberger of Radford State Teachers College as secretary and treasurer. The third annual convention will be held at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

Westhampton Singers Plan 1929 Concert Program

The Westhampton College Glee Club lists two definite concerts with several tentative dates. They will compete in the Glee Clubs of Virginia contest in Fredericksburg and broadcast a program from Station WRYVA. A March 5 Ashland concert and a March 8 show at Westhampton College Red Cross Building are slated, with a hopeful April 9 trip to Fredericksburg for the contest.

Two Alumni to Speak at Chapel Next Week

Richmond College schedules a chapel program for the last week of February with two alumni as speakers. Dr. W. E. Gibson of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church will speak Monday the 25th, and Rev. Mr. C. Hargroves of Weatherford Memorial Baptist Church will speak Wednesday the 27th.

Student Government Elections Set For March 4

In line with the constitution the next regular Student Government election will be held on Tuesday March 4 from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. A president vice president secretary and treasurer will be chosen under the supervision of the Student Senate. Also to be elected are editors managers and officers of activities and athletic groups.

Y M C A Elects New Officers After Resignation

At a Yo M C A meeting last week J B Dailey was elected president and W F P Carter treasurer to fill vacancies created by a resignation. Dailey previously served as desk secretary and treasurer, while Carter has worked with the Y cabinet and helped during Christian World Education Week on the Richmond College campus.

Senior Class Invitations Bound in Black Leather

Senior class invitations for the June commencement are printed by E A Wright & Company. The blue leather bindings feature a rough green intermingling with a gold Richmond College seal. Goode Receives Colorado Lectureship Offer

Dr. C. T. Goode of Richmond College has been invited to a graduate lectureship at the University of Colorado for the entire summer of 1929. Colorado's Boulder location in the Rocky Mountains makes it an ideal, resort-like setting.

Four Short Plays to Be Presented by Toy Theater

Westhampton College opens the Toy Theatre with four one act plays by freshmen. The Dutch Doll features Juanita Bush as the doll, The Dyspeptic Ogre stars Mary Lucille Saunders, Grandmother Dozes features Virginia Hoffmann, and Birthdays Come in February continues the program with another student performer.

Resolutions Adopted by Virginia Intercollegiate Press Assoc

The Resolutions Committee met with the executive committee at the University of Richmond and adopted a set of resolutions. The convention passed them at a business meeting. One calls for appointing a committee to revise the temporary constitution and report next year. A second requires each member publication to include all other member publications in its class on mailing lists.

Literary Societies Plan to Hold Debate

The Philologian and My Sigma Rho Literary Societies plan a joint program to debate the question Resolved that With the Existing Attitude Toward Law Enforcement the Honor System in Student Government is Undesirable in American Colleges. The Mu Sigs are continued on Page 3.

Hampton Institute Qartette to Sing at Vespers Sunday

A Hampton Institute quartette from Hampton Virginia will sing negro spirituals as the main feature of Sunday night vespers. The group tours leading Eastern schools and colleges and appears before many audiences with strong acclaim for their performances.

Richmond Debating Team Heads to Convocation and Contests

The Richmond Debating Team led by J. P. Wilbourn with D. R. Hepler and alt J. L. Hart will debate the topic That the United States Should Adopt a Substitute for the Jury System against Davidson College at Richmond College on March 5 1929. They will also face Bri dwater College on March 6 1929 and Hampden Sydney on March 9 1929 on the same campus.

The dean postpones the dean's list and junior and senior optional attendance notices due to incomplete history grades caused by Dr. S C Mitchell illness. Officials expect final lists by month end.

The Ministerial Association of Richmond College plans its annual banquet at the William Byrd Hotel on March 1, 1929. T Eugene West, alumnus and former association president, will be among the speakers and discuss his recent trip to Europe and the Holy Land. More speakers are expected to be announced.

Faculty approves degree changes at University of Richmond

President Boatwright reports to trustees that the faculty agrees to require students to specialize in one major instead of two, improving teaching focus and graduate prospects. Four committees are named to reorganize university work, with Dr. Harlan leading the Personal Work Committee to study better handling of student problems.

Virginia Intercollegiate Press awards honoraries

The Virginia Tech weekly paper won the Brown-Morrison Printing Cup at the Virginia Intercollegiate Press Convention. Richmond Collegian and Plat Hat received honorable mention. Hollins College won first in the magazine contest with Cargoes.

Senior Class Emblem Decided at March Meeting

At the March 1 Senior Class meeting the class emblem will be decided. A committee led by Lloyd H. Caster with W. K. Gaines, R. Sterling Phipps, and T. J. Kane will review it. Tryouts for Hamlet at Commencement have begun and the tentative cast will be announced soon by Miss Emily Brown.
