Campus political arena preps for campus elections

Rumors place three candidates in the running for student body president as the campus community readies for March 4 voting. Several students have unofficially agreed to have their names considered, but no clear trends or outcomes are yet discernible.

Prince and Booker Delegates to Meet at Danville Convention

R I Booker, president of Richmond College S G A and vice president of Omricon Helta Kappa, was chosen to fill the unexpired term of William Carver Jr as president of ODK. Carver withdrew from school for health reasons. Booker also named delegate to the national convention in Danville Kentucky today and tomorrow. Dean W L Prince will probably attend.

Alumni Banquet Tonight At Richmond Chapter

About forty members of the University of Richmond alumni are expected to attend the Richmond Chapter banquet in the refectory at 6 o'clock. Dr. S C Mitchell is to give an address and several others may be called upon. A basketball game between William and Mary College and the local University takes place tonight in the gym, likely drawing more alumni.

University of Richmond Summer Term Dates and Courses

The regular summer session at the University of Richmond runs July 16 to July 26. It offers college courses by faculty for earnest students, with the same standards and credit toward degrees as in winter. Admission is for those willing to do serious work, with courses in biology chemistry economics education English French German government history Latin law mathematics physics psychology and Spanish.

Furman Richmond to Debate Bok Plan in Greenville

Preliminaries for the Furman University debate on the Bok Peace Plan were held in Greenville South Carolina with two finalists chosen Frank Atwell won first place A Stepanian Blanks and Edwards tied for second The final contest is set for March 31 in Greenville DC The Mercer University debate date in Richmond April 10 is under negotiation due to Mercer’s reluctance to debate the Marriage topic.

Lyon to deliver 48th Thomas Lecture on Palestine and the Bible

David G. Lyon PhD will be the forty eighth James Thomas Jr Lecture Foundation speaker. He will present three lectures on February 28 29 and March 1 with main theme Palestine and the Bible. The first lecture covers Ancient Palestine as revealed by exploration and the 1908 1910 Samaria excavations by Harvard University. The second discusses Palestine today in relation to the Bible focusing on natural history topography climate and customs.

Juniors Place Order for Rings at Westhampton

Measurements finished and the present junior class sent the order for senior rings. The chosen design is the regulation style featuring a large W on a towered background, closely matching the senior rings with minimal variation. The rule restricts wear until after the last of the second term exams.

Dramatic Club Rehearsals For Two One Act Plays

Rehearsals are underway for two one act plays by the Dramatic Club to be staged at the Red Cross Building Wednesday 5 March at 4 30 PM. The Knave of Hearts features fourteen players and Rising of Moon involves four students. A joint meeting of dramatic clubs from Richmond and Westhampton College is planned for next Wednesday in Westhampton College drawing room.

Annual Declamation Contest Set for Tonight in Chapel

Eleven schools have entered contestants for the University of Richmond Annual High School and Secondary School Declamation Contest to be held in the chapel auditorium tonight at 7 oclock. Judges include Miss Emily Brown Dr Irving Garwood and Frank Bane. Students are urged to attend since today is a half holiday.

U O R Quintet to Meet Indians in Gym Tonight

The U O R quintet aims for revenge after a 25 22 loss earlier in the season to the William and Mary Indians. The big winter clash is set for the Millhiser Gymnasium with Richmond fans expecting a thriller.

Tarrant Wins Debating Title for UVa Team

John G. Tarrant, formerly of the University of Richmond, won first place in a nineteen contestant field for the University of Virginia debating team bound to meet Georgia and South Carolina State universities. Richmond College's W J Tiller, A B 16, took second place in the same contest.

Freshman Banquet at Hotel Richmond a Great Success

The University freshmen held their banquet in the Red Room at Hotel Richmond last night. Speech highlights included Miss Cath erine Rhodes, Miss Elma Ashton, Miss Alis Loehr, Professor Dodds, Basil C. Minter, James Shelburn, and George B. Ferguson. Dr. Boatwright spoke on upcoming class work. All in attendance enjoyed the event.
