Snowbound Sal and her university friends revel in a snowy weekend. Sal awakes to a campus blanketed in snow and, despite plans for the West Virginia Richmond basketball game, enjoys building a snowman, playing bridge and scrabble, and sleigh riding with Icy Ike.
The R G McDanel History Society will meet next Monday at 7 30 p m in the student lounge. Members urged to attend and student body is invited. To join the society a person must attend two consecutive meetings.
The Richmond senior chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Management and the School of Business Administration student chapter plan a dinner and forum on February 23 at 8 p.m. in the Student Center Lounge. A six member panel will discuss Why I Chose My Business Vocation with three business reps Thomas Tidwell H. H. Harrison and M N Pearman and three student members Percy Eason Robert Lacy and Charles Wilbourne.
Westhampton nominates Dixie Hargrave and Mary Burks for college government president on the first ballot. Betty Marlowe and Nancy Tingle seek vice president, with Beth Holland and Ellen Fitzhugh as secretary nominees. Sandra Atkinson and Alice Hall vie for treasurer, with Janet Harwood and Gayle Gowdey as alternate, Judy Acree and Nell Gracey as senior representative, and Anne Pultz and Pat Glaverius for North and South Court president respectively.
Professor J F Bruce, former British government official in Australia India and Geneva, will lecture on British Foreign Policy at Keller Hall Monday at 8 p m. The Oxford historian, retired from Merton College and visiting posts at Sydney Junjab University Berlin and Harvard, tours the United States and will meet student groups on campus Tuesday.
The University Board of Publications appointed two students to the Messenger staff at a recent meeting. Phil B. Walker of Richmond College was named business manager, a junior from Norfolk. Gloria Greenfield of Westhampton College was chosen Westhampton College editor, a Baltimore native and senior.
Science Film Society presents the color film Atlas missile at the physics lecture room on Wednesday February 24 at 3 30 and 7 30 pm. The event is a Beta Beta Beta Gamma Sigma Epsilon and Sigma Pi Sigma joint effort with active committee members Bill Bugg George Cochran Wilson Higgs Kay Lacy and Dr W Allan Powell. All students invited and urged to suggest future topics for discussion.
James B. Reston of the New York Times Washington bureau will speak at Cannon Memorial Chapel at 8 p.m. Friday under the Thomas Lecture Foundation. He will review the world scene in light of the president's diplomatic activities and has a long career with honors including a 1944 Pulitzer Prize.
Westhampton College welcomes ten schools for a Virginia College Dance Festival starting 10 30 a m in Keller Hall. Participating colleges include Randolph Macon Women’s, Radford, Hollins, Madison, RPI, Mary Washington, Sweetbriar, and Westhampton. spectators from William and Mary, Mary Baldwin, and Longwood. Valerie Bettis will lead a master class and lecture demonstration, with student choreographed pieces and critiques to follow. tickets are seventy five cents in Keller Hall.
A romantic adventure set in King Arthur's court screens at 7 30 in the student center. Black Shield of Falworth features Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh as leading stars in a Technicolor tale of princesses knights tournaments and castles.
