25 Years of Service Ends as Alumnae Secretary at Westhampton
Mrs. Leslie 8. Booker will retire June 30 after 25 years as Westhampton College alumnae secretary. A 1922 graduate, she began the role in 1945, oversaw fundraising, bulletins, homecomings, reunions, and alumnae records, increasing contributions from 510 in 1942 to 25,886 in 1966-67. She led major projects including a 200000 pool fund and 35000 furnishings in the Blue Room, and now works with two part time staff. Mrs. Booker plans travel and club activities with her husband Russell B. Hooker, three children, and state travel.

Rubin To Lecture On Huckleberry Finn In Chapel
Dr. Louis D. Rubin Jr., UNC English professor and University of Richmond alum, will lecture on Huckleberry Finn at 8:15 tonight in Cannon Memorial Chapel. He edits the Southern Literary Study Series for LSU Press and has been an associate editor of the Richmond News Leader. His works include The Curious Death of the Novel and The Teller in the Tale.
