Six Named to Membership in Dramatics Frat

Six university students have been elected to Alpha Psi Omega by Alpha Tau Cast at Richmond College and Westhampton College. The new members are Jaquelin Johnston Katherine Bell Mary Mills Martha Porter Julius Berkley and Charles Arendal Jr Alpha Psi Omega promotes amateur dramatics with chapters across schools in the United States and Canada.

Phoenix Club Banquet Honors New Biology Scholars

The Phoenix Club of the University of Richmond will host a banquet at Gypsy Tavern in Richmond on Sunday February 18 at 6 30 p m to honor recently elected members of the honorary biology fraternity. Dean R B Pinchbeck and Dean May Keller will attend along with several faculty members.

Co-Ord Juniors to Present Musical Skit March 16

Westhampton's Junior Class plans a musical comedy to unveil what it calls the scandal of the University. Proceeds benefit the Organ Fund with a professional cast selected by ability, not name, for a blackface show at Richmond College's Mayhouse on March 16.

Sophs and Fresh Plan Dance for April 21 at Richmond College

At a joint meeting the Freshman and Sophomore classes set Saturday April 21 for their second annual Prom. Tickets cost one dollar a pair with a date ticket and a stag ticket for an upperclassman. The event remains campus only with outsiders barred. An outside orchestra was approved and potential performers include Duke's Collegians, Jack Wardlaw, and Mal Blattlett. A special decor committee led by Alfred Dickinson plans a new style of decorations. The Prom aims for cross class understanding rather than profit, continuing a Richmond College tradition.

Philologians Elect Grenoble President

Officers for the term were elected by the Philologian Literary Society at the February meeting. William Grenoble was re elected as president with Charles Ryland as vice president Christy Garrett as secretary treasurer Sidney Matthews as forensic council representative and J H Ricks as parliamentary critic. The group discussed joint representation with Mu Sigma Rho in The Web and noted a February 15 debate between Richmond and Roanoke debaters on expanding presidential powers.

Faculty Hold Annual Dinner at Westhampton Dining Room

University of Richmond faculty gathered for the annual dinner on February 12, 1934, in the Westhampton dining room with 176 guests. Guests of honor included Dr. and Mrs. Boutweight, Dean and Mrs. Minehbeck, Dr. Keller, and Dean and Mrs. Doubles. A five course meal featured oyster cocktail, turkey, fruit nut salad, and strawberry shortcake.

Dr Smart to Deliver Talks on Religion at University

Dr W A Smart from Emory University will present a two day Religious Education Week series at the University of Richmond sponsored by the YWCA and YMCA. He will speak in Cannon Memorial Chapel and attend a tea at Westhampton College with noted harpist Miss Mary M Moncure.

College Students to Receive Federal Aid

Dr. Boatwright announces Federal Emergency Relief funds totaling 1365 dollars for needful students at nine ten full time, with ninety one slots. Work includes clerical library and dormitory tasks at thirty cents an hour, up to twenty dollars monthly, to be allocated to eligible students under financial need and character criteria.

Four Classes in Song Contest at West Hampton College

The annual song contest at West Hampton College happens tonight at 7 in the Red Cross Building with Miss Virginia Sanford in charge. Four songs will be performed including a proclamation song chosen and prepared for the occasion, a randomly drawn proclamation, a randomly chosen pep song, and an original pep song. Mrs. C. S. Brackenborough, Mrs. Garnett Ryland, and Mr. Charles Troxell will judge, scoring on a sixty point basis.

Midwinter Dance Draws Virginia and Nearby Guests

Dan Gregory and his orchestra provided music for a successful midwinter dance at Millhiser Gymnasium attended by nearly seven hundred. Interfraternity Council sponsored the event, with guests from Virginia and several states, including Richmond and Westhampton girls and students from William and Mary College. The piece notes the extensive out-of-town attendance and signals continued coverage on page 5.

Students urged to run Richmond College shop

The Collegian advocates a student operated Richmond College Shop with faculty aid. It lays out two plans to reform the current post office and store monopoly, proposing profits go to campus projects or a non profit student body run model. A supervising committee of students and faculty would oversee prices and profits.

Twenty One Grads in State Assembly

The University of Richmond counts twenty one alumni in Virginia's General Assembly with eight senators and thirteen in the House of Delegates. Nineteen of the twenty one are lawyers. The roster lists Senators and Representatives with their hometowns and addresses.

Students Discuss Honor System With Council Meeting
