The Collegian staff launches a subscription drive to fund this semester’s publication at Richmond College. Only students who subscribe or pay the budget fee will receive the paper, with deliveries limited to those contributing through June. Dormitory rooms and town students will be visited to secure support.

At a Monday meeting the Junior and Senior classes discussed may’s prom and its possible merge with the interfraternity dance set before Easter. The plan foresees one orchestra for both events with a top national band likely. The interfraternity dance would be Friday night and the prom Saturday, not formal as first decided, with a new six member committee from each class to coordinate with the Interfratern.
At a recent Harlequin Club meeting fourteen new members were elected from Kappa Alpha George Hope Bas com Hardcastle Kappa Sigma Gresham Wall Phi Kappa Sigma Garnett Snead Lambda Chi Alpha George Shetter Aubrey Heflin Phi Gamma Delta B Clarence Grey Sigma Phi Epsilon Stuart Cooke John Rosser Pi Kappa Alpha Braddock Hickman Theta Chi Edward Perlowski Marshall Smith Phi Delta Omega John Daley Milton Hobson Plans were made for a February 20 gathering at the Kappa Sigma house after the William and Mary game The Harlequin Club includes two representatives from each campus social fraternity and aims to improve relations between Westhampton and Richmond College
During the past session the International Relations Club has acquired new books placed in the annex to the University Library. The collection is divided into two main groups, disarmament and other pressing international issues. The first group includes the draft convention text and preparatory coins.
Freshman compulsory track began last Wednesday with all new students required to report to the gym. Upperclassmen lacking athletic credit must also report as it must be earned for degree requirements.
Sophomores and juniors sponsor two dances at Westhampton to close the first semester. A Friday formal board dance in the dining hall features Helen Travis and the Bedouins eight piece orchestra for the prom from nine to twelve. Saturday night is informal with Mike Kent's orchestra. Ann Dickinson handles refreshments. Elizabeth Goodwin leads planning. tickets have been selling.
Westhampton to host a school song contest February 24 at 7 in the Red Cross Building. Each class shows its banner and colors with new pep songs judged on rendition and attitude. Mrs. P. Flaxington Harker among judges. winning class receives numerals engraved on a silver plaque in the Blue Room.
The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company warns students living on campus to remove all pay station facilities from the Y M C A Building and Thomas Hall unless damage to the property ceases.
The University Players stage The Thirteenth Chair a three act mystery drama by Bayard Veiller next Friday February 19 at 7 30 P M in the Red Cross Building. Ed ward Peple plays Roscoe Crosby and Joseph Holland portrays Edward Wales in a plot of seance murder and a detective chase. The cast includes Mae Trawick K Geoghan and Stanley Jones among others with Miss Emily Brown directing and Stanley Jones overseeing set design. Admission is nominal and open to students and friends.
The Spiders beat Hampden-Sydney 23-21 and eye Randolph-Macon College at Millhiser Gym as Virginia Conference action tightens standings. Richmond and Hampden-Sydney share second in the loop with William and Mary leading. Randolph-Macon seeks to even the series after last season’s two wins for Richmond.
Dr H N Wheeler of the University of Colorado and United States Forest Service spoke at Friday chapel on fire control soil reclamation and park development. He outlined causes of forest fires their effects and prevention measures and highlighted the value of wise game legislation and preservation for states like Pennsylvania and Virginia.
