Editors Prepare Next Messenger at Richmond College
The Richmond College Messenger enters planning for a second edition under editor-in-chief F Overton Jones. An exchange bureau led by Dick Williams will link colleges nationwide as about fifty copies went out last week to broaden the exchange. The debut issue six years ago was well received by students and the Senate is expected to approve funds for the next two issues.

University boxings set for February 15 at the Mosque
The University of Virginia and University of Richmond boxing bouts on Saturday night February 15 will be jointly managed. Virginia students pay full price while Richmond students can exchange coupon number eighteen for a 55 cent reserved seat. A limited number may buy adjacent seats at 55 cents. Students receive 25 cents per coupon toward final payment. Exchanges begin February 12 for 55 cent seats at the Student Shop. Higher priced seats exchange at the Mosque box offices. Rufus Jones Lectures Here Coming Week
Dr. Rufus M. Jones, noted religious writer and philosopher, will lecture on the University campus next week under President BF W. Boatwright. He arrives February 16 and appears at Cannon Memorial Chapel for vesper Sunday at 7, then speaks to the Richmond Ministerial Union and to Richmond and Westhampton Colleges before public lectures at 8 p.m. Each day includes additional talks and student meetings.

Tuskegee assa reports Dr George Washington Carver a noted Negro scientist with 35 years directing agricultural research at Tuskegee Institute. He made synthetic marble from wood shavings and insulating walls from peanut shells. He created 285 peanut products and 118 from sweet potatoes. He also paints, paper, inks, and a range of dyes and foods. He is an artist musician cook and educator whose work aids uplift for his people.

No Cuts Policy on Weather Affects Attendance

Richmond to Join Southern Conference as Six Invitees Named
The Southern Conference extended invitations to six southern schools including the University of Richmond William and Mary Davidson Wake Forest and The Citadel with membership effective next September. Two schools Presbyterian and Centre were rejected. The Graham plan on athlete subsidies was adopted by a six to four vote. Richmond and William and Mary will remain in the Virginia Conference.

Mid-Winter Dance Plans Near Completion
The Interfraternity Council narrowed three orchestras for the Midwinter Dance set to be held February 28 and 29 in Milchiser Gymnasium. Final selection expected today. Ticket price capped at three dollars, possibly lower. Finalists include Johnnie Long and his Duke Collegians, Jimmie Poyner and his North Carolina State band, and the Chinese-American Restaurant orchestra from New York City.
