National Quest Opens for Virginia Students

The Richmond Times-Dispatch launches a nation wide oratorical contest inviting Virginia secondary students to interpret and popularize the American system of government based on the Constitution. Prizes total 1250 dollars and 125 medals, supported by more than 200 leading newspapers.

Students Join League Friends Promoting World Order

Large numbers of University students joined the Friends of the League of Nations by contributing to a 400 000 dollar fund for promotion of league interests as proposed by Dr S C Mitchell head of the history department. A three day campaign by seniors aims to give every student a chance to join the sympathizers. yesterday was the campaign’s second day.

Law School To Hold Two Summer Sessions

The T. C. Williams School of Law will offer two summer sessions this year after a petition from twenty five students. Dr. Boatwright said complete courses will be available during the twelve week session.

Spanish Club to Present Two Plays in Spanish

The Spanish Club plans an entertainment on February 15 at the Red Cross Building featuring two short plays in Spanish. The Bachelors' Dilemma centers on John and Diego, two bachelors living with Aunt Mary, who pushes for marriage to Louise. Diego fears proposing while John guides him, yet John is drawn to Louise and speaks for himself.

Preliminaries Set for Furman Debate Team Trials

Preliminary rounds to select the University of Richmond debating team against Furman University on Bok Peace Plan will be held February 10 at 4 in the chapel auditorium. Final debate in Greenville, D. C. on March 31 with UR defending the negative.

Plans Set to Raise 100000 for Westhampton Building

As University of Richmond marks its 100th anniversary in 1932 Westhampton aims to set the cornerstone of a Woman's Building with $100000. Students and alumnae plan yearly $10000 raises, beginning with a 1 500 fund and multiple fundraisers such as a dormitory wares sale and a pie sale.

Glee Club Director Praises Progress at Richmond College

Dr. Emil Saverio head of the Spanish department and Glee Club director notes strong attendance and clear improvement. At a chapel meeting committees were set for concert details and Mullins was elected business manager with Milner as advertising manager. Plans for a second quarter and a new quartet underway as members vie for spots.

Dramatic Club Plans One-Act Plays At Richmond College

Members of the Dramatic Club will present several one act plays this term and form a committee to select the works. The program is a campus innovation with interest surrounding its development. A definite announcement has not yet been made.

University of Richmond to Award Doctor of Laws to T B McAdams

Colonel Thomas B. McAdams will receive the university’s sole Doctor of Laws degree this year. The award, announced by President F W Boatwright, is conferred at the June commencement after the board’s decision. The university honors prominent former students who have achieved distinction.

Miss Mary Wingfield Scott Returns From Sorbonne Paris

Miss Mary Wingfield Scott returns to Westhampton from Paris where she studied at the Sorbonne. She landed October 29 and sailed home January 2 aboard the Majestic. In Paris she bought seventy eight slides on French painting for the college department. Back in Westhampton she will temporarily teach French IV and VI.
