REW to Bring Honest Religion Emphasizes Timely Week

Evangelical program REW to Bring Honest Religion opens Monday at 9 30 a m with a convocation. The week features a panel on Caught in the Draft including a Virginia Selective Service official and Bill Grogan. Robert L Williams, former Oregon philosophy professor, faces draft evasion charges and discusses conscientious objector status. Other events include a secular liturgy service and a Duberman documentary In White America plus a Fail-Safe screening.

Richmond trustees approve $1.2 million men’s dormitory

University of Richmond trustees approve a $1.2 million contract for a three story men’s dormitory overlooking the lake. The building will house 225 men, funded by a $1 million federal loan, and is set for completion in 1970.

City Taxes Add University Land to Richmond Rolls

Twenty six parcels owned by the University were added to Richmond real estate tax rolls for 1969, including land leased to fraternities and professors. The move, which expands the campus parcels listed at 662000 in value, affects groups such as Kappa Sigma and Phi Delta Theta, and addresses 7009 and 7011 Bandy Road among others.

Touring French Antigone Set For University Theater

Le Treteau de Paris will stage Antigone by Jean Anouilh at James L Camp Memorial Theater February 20 at 8 30 pm. Sponsoring departments include art speech dramatic arts and modern foreign languages. Tickets available from the modern language department. The touring company has recent US engagements and a Broadway run planned for late spring.

Two Day Tourney Held for Debaters

The University sponsored sixth annual Invitational Debate Tournament opens with 22 colleges from eleven states and DC. Top teams Emory University George Washington University and Washington and Lee attend. The event runs two days at the Fine Arts Building with varsity and novice divisions and noon to 3:90 p.m. rounds. Lance Wood directs, assisted by Bob Frank and Larry Joyner.
