Teen unemployment rises as standards and automation hit youth
Teen-age unemployment is an increasingly explosive social problem. Tougher academic standards are raising the number of school drop-outs while automation has eliminated many unskilled jobs. Although under-20s are one ninth of the labor force, they make up a quarter of all unemployed.
