A December Westhampton game in the Ted Cross building drew large crowds as W C Varsity defeated the Faculty 17 to 15. Lough collapsed late, treated by Medical Corps. Crenshaw also suffered a midgame collapse.
The Y W A of Westhampton held its first meeting December 4 in the Blue Room with Katherine Spicer as president. The program centered on China, featuring a ground table talk led by Caroline Goodtan, exploring Chinese needs, customs, and domestic issues.
Thespian activity at Greater Richmond College has led to a joint Dramatic Club with Westhampton College to present Green Stockings. Rehearsals occur at the Ron Grogs Building in Westhampton under Miss Emily Brown. The troupe aims to perform after Christmas with shows at both the College and in Richmond.
Hichmood College stacks up with the Union Theological Seminary quint on the Barn court tonight to start the preliminary basketball season. Coach Rob son bie boon has shaped a growing squad, with about fifteen to sixteen candidates remaining from an initial forty. After Christmas holidays more players may join as practice continues and faults are ironed out.
The Des Moines Student Volunteer Convention will be represented by four Richmond College delegates Ford Willingham Box and O’Brien chosen at a recent meeting. Several hundred dollars have been raised for expenses. Speakers Mott and Spiers will headline a program focused on contemporary history and civilization’s progress. The event aims to mobilize college youth for global issues and postwar responsibility.
The Ministerial Association held its regular meeting on Tuesday evening December 2 with strong attendance. The flower committee reported sending flowers to Mr. Henderson, who was ill at Memorial Hospital but improving. Mr. Orrél spoke on opportunity, outlining world needs and paths for young men through Christian service.
The Richmond College Varsity Club, once a campus powerhouse, plans a postwar revival involving a reorganization with officers named to boost athletic legacy on the Westhampton campus. Proposals include displaying past teams in the Student Centre Building, reviving social life with a dance, and engaging promising preparatory athletes to strengthen future squads.
