Best Man Won The Award Jim Tait Named SC Coach Of The Year

Jim Tait was named Southern Conference Coach of the Year by the Collegian Editors for guiding the Spiders to the conference title with a -1 record. He won 29 votes to 14 for Jim Brakefield and 13 for Pat Dye. Bobby Ross received 4. Tait, born in New Rochelle and a former assistant under Frank Jones, expressed pride in the honor.

University of Richmond Exam Schedule and Campus Highlights

First semester exams are two weeks away for University of Richmond students. The exam schedule for Westhampton Richmond and School of Business is provided by Dr Riley's Office and appears on page 11. The freshmen and upperclassmen are preparing as campus events and sports updates unfold across the issue.

Tax Incentives Urged to Boost Private Philanthropy

The Commission on Private Philanthropy and Public Needs will propose federal tax incentives to raise charitable giving by an estimated twelve billion dollars annually. It urges higher deductions for low and middle income taxpayers, extended standard deduction treatment, and a two percent pre tax income goal for corporations, citing shifting private college and nonprofit costs.
