Fraternities Top Academic Scores in 1953 54 Review

Alpha Epsilon Pi leads as a national fraternity in the 1953 54 scholarship awards with a 1.70 average in its first year as a national body. Phi Alpha SPE and AE Pi show high marks while Phi Gamma Delta places fourth with 1.47. Lambda Chi Alpha Pi Kappa Alpha Phi Delta Theta and others fill the ranking as all fraternities exceed the all men’s average.

He advises addressing envelopes clearly and securely, attaching and reattaching address cards, and including return addresses inside parcels. PiKAs Play Hosts At Annual Dance

The Pi Kappa Alpha chapter at the University of Richmond hosts the All-State PiKa Ball tomorrow at 9 in the Wintergarden of the Richmond Hotel. The Townsmen provide music. a 5 to 7 formal party precedes. Representatives from Washington and Lee William and Mary UVA Hampden Sydney invited. Miss Kay Pettelo to represent UR.

Varied Fare Feasts Westhampton French Banquet

Westhampton students in the French club hosted Le Diner Francais in the Tea Room Monday night. The menu included hors d oeuvre creamed chicken peas salad bread and butter ice cream punch and coffee. Peggy Armstrong and Virginia Dart offered toasts before a program led by Lioletta Rice with Carolyn Quinn Eleanor De Long Betty Wyatt Sheila Lubin Dot Godfrey and Norma Putze. The Chevaliers group performed and the evening ended with Le Marseillaise.

University of Richmond names two ministers for Emphasis Week

Religious Activities Director J Ralph Shotwell announced the first two members of the 1955 Emphasis Week team. The honorees are Rev Elmer West, secretary for missionary personnel at the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board, and Rev Stuart F Grizzard, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Norfolk. West has toured Southern Baptist mission fields in the Orient and studied at Duke University and the University of Chicago after earning a Richmond B S and a Colgate Rochester Divinity School B D. Grizzard, a Virginia native and Richmond alumnus, pastored multiple churches before serving in Norfolk. his wife is Barbara Eckles of Westhampton. Further team members will be announced in coming weeks.

Kappa Alpha Rose Ball Set for Saturday Night

The Kappa Alpha Rose Ball will be held Saturday night at the Commonwealth Club. Billed as one of the outstanding social events of the season, the Ball will feature the music of Jimmy Yankovich.

Frat rush yields 138 pledges led by KA and Sig Ep

Richmond rush weekend closes with 138 freshmen and transfers accepting bids. Kappa Alpha led with 20 pledges, Sigma Phi Epsilon with 19, Sigma Alpha Epsilon with 18, and Phi Gamma Delta with 17. A faculty committee supervised rushing and pledges lists names of new members and pledges from Theta Chi, Phi Delta Theta, and Phi Gamma Delta.

Richmond debaters win at State TKA tournament

University of Richmond debaters opened the year with a 133 point victory in three rounds at the State TKA meet November 20. The affirmative team featured Ken Hodder and Dick Via with Via named top speaker and Hodder finishing third among speakers.
