Philologians Roast Old Masters In Monday Meeting

The Philologian Society held a Monday night session with Steve Slaughter presenting paintings and witty remarks such as a surrealist blob query. A hot seat segment featured talks on Microbes I Have Known and Love Among Onion Rings with Philologian Ned Heite presiding.

Scabbard and Blade Annual Military Ball Set Tomorrow

Scabbard and Blade hosts its annual military ball tomorrow night from 9:00 to 12:00 in Millhiser Gymnasium. The Richmond Collegians will provide music for the semi formal event, with a figure dance and crowning of the Ball Queen, Mrs. Sally Revere wife of Captain Charles Revere. Admission is 1.50 and the public is invited. Decorations feature parachutes from Ft Leewere.

Annual Snowball at Keller Hall Set for Dec 10

The Snowball, Westhampton's first dance of the year, will run 9 to 12 p.m. Saturday December 10 in Keller Hall gym. The Mains from Randolph-Macon College will provide music and formal attire is encouraged for all. Betty Pritchett and Marty Goding supervise decorations with a Christmas winter theme featuring a large snowman. Tickets are $2.50 per couple.

University of Richmond Glee Club Concert at Hotel John Marshall

The University of Richmond Glee Club directed by James Erb performed the Victory Swing and other songs at a Captains' Club dinner in the Hotel John Marshall on Thanksgiving Eve. Attendees included President George Modlin Dean G Gray and coaches Ed Merrick and Les Hooker. Trophies were awarded to active athletics alumni, and a planned tour of girls' colleges statewide was announced.

Pittsburgh Rabbi Speaks at UR Convocation Readings

Rabbi Harold I. Silver of Temple Emanuel in Pittsburgh gave a lecture at the Richmond College convocation on a topic exploring how Christianity and Judaism understand and misunderstand each other. He was named by Time Magazine as one of Pittsburgh's 100 outstanding leaders of the future.
