Debating schedule set with Gettysburg College

The Debating and Forensic Council reports one confirmed engagement for the coming year with Gettysburg College in Gettysburg Pa on April 2. Negotiations continue for debates with the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh and for a two–part series with the University of West Virginia to end the northern swing.

Majority Favors Joint Conference For College Teams

College men and women likely to meet in a joint conference at Blue Ridge North Carolina next year after votes at the June conference. Women favored the plan by nearly unanimous vote while men approved two to one. Board sanction remains the final gate before action.

Orientation for Freshmen at University of Richmond

Freshmen life at the University of Richmond will begin with orientation on Monday September 13. Dean Prince explains the plan to acquaint new students with college life, featuring assemblies and addresses by college officers faculty and student government as part of the welcome effort.

Complete Car Waiting Station at University

The waiting station at Stop 30 presented by the senior classes of 1924 25 and 26 to the University is finished and ready for use at the next session. The Gothic building measures twenty six by fourteen and a half by twenty two feet with three open sides and north wall closed. White limestone blocks at each end carry University of Richmond inscriptions and cornerstone marks note gifts from the classes of 24 25 and 26 and from Weathampton College. Three green benches comprise the inside furnishings.

Officials Announce Dormitory Rules For Students

University officials reprint standard dormitory rules from the college catalog. The deportment of a Christian gentleman is the standard to which every student is expected to conform. All rules guide student living in dormitories.

How Richmond College Is Reached by Trolley

The University of Richmond campus lies in the western suburbs of Richmond on the Westhampton electric line, about thirty minutes from Broad Street station and five and a half miles from Main Street station. Grounds accessible by paved driveways and by the Westhampton streetcar line for seven cents. Westhampton streetcars run every thirty minutes, more often between 3 PM and 8 PM every fifteen minutes, with Broad Street Station as the transfer point.

Sigma Phi Epsilon Silver Jubilee Conclave Opens

The S P E Fraternity held its Silver Jubilee Conclave in Richmond with twelve active members and the mother chapter from University of Richmond attending. The opening session occurred at the Jefferson Hotel with welcome addresses from Governor Harry F. Byrd and Dr J Ful, and the event continues through Saturday with a stag banquet at the Commonwealth Club. Sigma Phi Epsilon rooted at Richmond College in 1901 marks the twenty fifth anniversary in Richmond.

University of Richmond Centennial Drive Raises $300 000

Dr. F W Boatwright reports progress in the centennial campaign with $300 000 of the proposed $2 000 000 secured. Richmond College alumni have about $70 000 of the tally, while three Maryland representatives seek $50 000 for a Maryland Hall dormitory to aid Maryland students. Construction will start once plans are drawn and funds arranged.

Special Examinations Set for Sept 17 18

Special examinations for students with conditioned subjects will run September 17 and 18 with a fee of 200 dollars per exam. Notify the dean by September 1 if you wish to participate. Entrance exams for University of Richmond admission are scheduled September 14 and 15 with no fee for those candidates.

University of Richmond opens ninety fourth session with matriculation

The University of Richmond begins its ninety fourth session as new students from West ton and Richmond Colleges report to the dean's office. Matriculation is set for Wednesday September 16 at 9 am with entrance exams on the two days before opening. Applicants should report promptly and bring prior college records.

Science Building Nearing Completion at University of Richmond

The University of Richmond advances toward a modern chemistry complex with completion targeted for Sept 16, 1926, for the 1926 27 session. Delays push classes to mid October with freshman chemistry in chapel sections and advanced labs suspended until the new building opens.
