Kyser Signs For Finals and Honor Council Selections

The Student Senate approved Ralph Moore Dick Stoneburner Eugene McCaul Gerald Scott and Walter Gillette for vacancies on the Honor Council after recommendations by Roger Page President of Student Government The new council elected J T Arendall as chairman and Dick Stoneburner as vice chairman with J J Arendall and George George continuing unexpired terms Bud McCaul was appointed The body authorized two juniors Ish Martin and Gerald Scott to join the council as part of a recent amendment for a five member leadership structure.

McClure Named Sports Editor for Collegian 1937-38

McClure named sports editor as the Collegian completes its 1937 38 staff. Louis Tobias will oversee sports policy while Frank Conn named sports managing editor. Ben McClure has two years on the paper and will be the first sports editor on the editorial board.

Phillips Heads University Players Group Officers Named

Harold Phillips was elected president of the University Players for 1936 37 with James Ricks stepping down after his term. Douglas Gee is vice president, Henrietta Harrell secretary, and Henry Snellings business manager. A senior award plan was announced and a hayride social set for May 8 with a tackiest girl contest.

May Queen to Be Crowned In Ceremonies Tomorrow

May Day festivities at Westhampton feature Margaret Mitchell crowned Queen of May in an Old English country fair. A six member court will crown Miss Mitchell with traditional robe and crown as Martha Ann Freeman proclaims events.

Fehl School Orator Chosen for State Contest

Noah Fehl was selected to represent the University of Richmond in the State Oratorical Contest at the Forensic Council meeting held Wednesday. The May 7 state contest will be on campus. Fehl spoke on Joyful Wisdom. Other finalists were Jack Noffsinger and John E. Jordan. judges included Buford Brandis and George Harper.

Terror Reigns as Players Perform At The Black Flamingo

University Players staged The Black Flamingo, a French Revolution era drama, delivering atmospheric staging and standout turns by Mitchell MacFarland as Count Cagliostro and Linwood Brandis as Pope. Critics noted diction flaws but praised energy, humor, and vivid character work despite some pacing issues.

Dean Hudsons Clubmen Will Complete Set

Dean Hudson and his Florida Clubmen will join Kay Kyser for the last two dances at the Richmond College Finals. Kyser’s orchestra, a national radio favorite, will headline the set while Mal Hallet’s band placed second in student polling. Hudson’s group gained campus support and has performed at Tantilla Gardens and Miami clubs.

Wendt To Play For May Queen Dance At Westhampton

Westhampton College hosts a May Queen dance in the Women’s Activities Building gym from nine to twelve. Frank Wendt of Richmond leads a ten piece orchestra while a flower basket shaped ticket line forms. May Queen Margaret Mitchell and student leaders attend the event.
